Not easy to get into.

hell naw I have a close friend who is a Ranger, wouldn't want to do half of what he's had to do.

Defending hobbits ain't all that.

In my country men must join the military for one year as it is stated by the law. If you don' t do it then fines, prison etc. Thankfully I have the right to postpone my joining the military for 10 years since I went to university. I don' t know about US but here it' s not an honor at all. Maybe if you do it as a standard job and even then it' s not much of an honor... This is another ridiculous obligation I have to face. So I have seriously thought about ways to avoid the military not joining it. If I was an American I would probably not do it either because personally I think there are a lot more worthwhile things to do in my time than risking my life.

Commissioned officers are required to have a four year degree with at least a B average and most sergeants in the military are either working on or already have a degree. You shouldn't assume the military is full of dumbasses despite stereotypes.

Yes, I am seriously considering joining the Air Force. I still need to work out the details, however.

i wanted to, i walked into the recruitment center after i turned 18 and scored a 10 out of 10 on both the verbal and math sections of the pre asfab test and told them i was born to fly an apachie and they laughed and said maybe i could change the oil in one.

i never went back.

lulz is right. i was pretty upset seeing as how i just scored 100% the test that predicted what you get on the actual placement exam.

they didn't even tell me to go to college and get into the rotc or anything like that just you can be a mechanic sign here.

i was just a stupid kid and had no clue how the system worked at the time.

i always wondered why they didn't tell me.

I respect war heros (Is that a proper term?) but screw that I'm not risking my life for a cause I don't believe in. Unless like some of my friends think of it as the last resort. Life keeps kicking you down, it's time to go join the military and straighten out. Yeah I also respect the discipline and training just not the war part.

That's true. The education level of the military as a whole has gone up over the years. Plus, just because a person has a college degree doesn't mean that person will automatically be accepted into the military. My niece has a college degree from a state university. Yet, she tried to join the Air Force but didn't score high enough in some areas.

What specific unit were you looking into?

Special forces was the unit. In the army, there's infantry, tank operators, rangers, etc, and then there's special forces.

No.

Maybe you should you make it sound like the rangers are not special forces. Clearly you need to explain what you mean by rangers, ect and then there's special forces. The army alone has at least six units that fall in the special operations catagory. Guess the 1 1/2 years to 2 years of training just to get tabbed was what for office work ?

I'd only join the army if there were fighting a cause I thought was worth dying for, which they are not.

Fine. The army recruiters explained to me that Special Forces is its own branch within the army, like the Navy has the Seals. You actually have to go through the rangers program as well as a handful of other trainings to become a part of SF.

Even the army national guard has two branches of special operations if memory serves me correctly. It is more likely your recruiter was talking about a specific branch like say delta forces for example.

Not really.

I don't think I'm technically able to join the military, though I've heard of ways to circumvent certain regulations. I have kind of thought about it as an option, I don't know, sometimes I kind of think it would be a good way to give my life some sort of meaning.

I am in a big slump financially and emotionally atm. I cannot find a woman to love on me or a job I love to do. I hear military people have a sense of accomplishment and pride after serving their contry so I thought maybe I should join to boost my ego. I am scared though of dying or getting PTSD. Have you ever seriously thought about joining the military or other armed forces? I think I'll have better time with women if I go and build my confidence up. I am tired of being a slumbag.slowpokebro

He didn't mention delta forces, just sf and the 4 positions I would potentially become.

Also, I wouldn't care about this patriotic crap.

Why? The portion of any military that actually sees combat is relatively small compared to the other portion that supports them. The support is waaaaay bigger.
