Heavy Metal suggestions?

So I'm trying to get into Opeth. Any suggestions? And anyone know some new thrash bands?

As fantastic as Opeth is, if you have to try to get into a band, they aren't for you.

I have no love for crappy core bands that causes misconceptions for the music that I love listening to. Also yes, most Prog Metal bores me, except for Fates Warning. And I love Metal and its sub genres as much as I can, but the main sub genres I love listeningto are Heavy, Thrash, Black, Death and a tiny percent of Power Metal along with some Goth, and Doom.
