us, I don't think they have Tornados in the UK.

You can do amazing things if you have enough people (similar to the pyramids), why would god put some big rocks down on a hill?

Obviously, it's to show people that there is a higher being out there watching us.

Their counter argument is that these versus are metaphors. I don't think they were intend to be but, whatever.

Frattracide

And your counter argument is "I don't believe they were metaphors, therefore they were not metaphors, therefore the Bible is false."

No, its "there is good reason to believe they weren't" and though I don't believe in the validity of the bible, I never made that claim here.

Even though you have been shown several times (all of which you ignored) that there is NOT good reason to believe so, since they KNEW THE EARTH WAS NOT FLAT.

So were the blocks of the pyramids, yet people still built those. Ever hear of tools? You can do a lot of things with tools.

You don't tolerate good arguments either, do you feel victorious or something sitting here having your points being ripped apart? You are yet to state something that has even made me have to think for more than a few seconds to explain, disprove or find contention with.

kruesader

I don't care if you think about it or not. Doesn't make the fact that God is real any less true.

I'm not even arguing that God has to exist, but there is a higher being out there that made everything. You should at least believe that.

There are decent explanations for the formation of stars and, subsequently, the formation of black holes.

Ever pick up a middle school science textbook? There's an entire section on tools. Check it out. And guess what? Scientists have found other stongehenges dating back to 8000 BC. There's more than one of them, you know.

Logical reasoning is possible because God is logical and has made us in HIS image.

But if the universe were merely a chance accident, then why should logical reasoning be possible? If my brain is merely the product of mutations (guided only by natural selection), then why should I think that it can determine what is true? The secular, evolutionary worldview cannot account for the existence of logical reasoning

I don't think he meant a screw driver. They didn't have those during the time they built the pyramids. Instead, they used sleds and workers to pull the blocks up ramps to build it. And the Egyptians built the Pyramids. Not God. The Egyptians believed in many gods, which happen to not be the god christians believe in.

More question-begging! It's a logical fallacy.

First of all, you do not have to believe the Bible is flawless. Not even Clive Staples Lewis believed that.

Secondly, it is nothing short of ABSURD to say that the entire creed of Christianity is that the Bible is literal.

Well, going "religious people can't think for themselves" is hardly an original thought, now is it?

Hold on. The great pyramids themselves were created by men. God may choose a different way to show his powers and His work can be clearly seen from the environment around us. Random slabs of rocks are not a natural occurence.

If my brain is merely the product of mutations (guided only by natural selection), then why should I think that it can determine what is true? The secular, evolutionary worldview cannot account for the existence of logical reasoning

Psychosisrain

if you touch fire, you burn yourself. that is the basis of logical reasoning.

People. People built it.

Sooshy

With what? Those rocks are way too heavy to be built by men.

So were the blocks of the pyramids, yet people still built those. Ever hear of tools? You can do a lot of things with tools.

If you read my other posts, I said pyramids are from God too. Yes, I've heard of tools, but I failt os ee how a screw driver and a wrench is going to constuct a freakin' pyramid or super heavy rock formation.

If you read...well, if you read any elementary school history book, you'd know that the pyramids were made by humans. They used tools, like a wheel, or a platform, possibly pulleys. Ever pick up a middle school science textbook? There's an entire section on tools. Check it out. And guess what? Scientists have found other stongehenges dating back to 8000 BC. There's more than one of them, you know.

Don't talk to me about education. I go to a university and plan on transfering to a top school soon.

So scientist found more. Maybe God made more so more people could see their beauty?

Maybe he didn't? (Note: I just used an argument with about the same strength as all of yours, isn't it frustrating?)

What are you talking about? There are plenty of records of early christians advocating a flat earth theory. And were talking about a a group of authors that predates even them. In antiquity a flat earth was a commonly held belief and these passages were supposedly written then.

Frattracide

Do you even read the links I give? People have known the earth was round as long as they have known how to sail! And I said that some Christians advocated it; they were a minority and the Church never made it an official statement!

Quit ignoring everything I've been saying.

Or maybe people made multiple ones so they could tell what time of year it was, or what time of day it was. And if I don't have to lecture you on eduaction, show it. Put up a forceful argument.

Haha.

Did your mother not hug you enough when you were young TC? Do you need to be big on the internet to feel good?

All you have achieved is to make yourself look foolish, if you truly are religious then you have done your faith a great disservice.

More question-begging! It's a logical fallacy.Dracargen

I just explained why this is a good thing.

First of all, you do not have to believe the Bible is flawless. Not even Clive Staples Lewis believed that.Dracargen

What? Who cares what some guy believed? :?

Secondly, it is nothing short of ABSURD to say that the entire creed of Christianity is that the Bible is literal.Dracargen

Is it not meant to be literal? Christians themselves always resort to the bible to make points, how about the part that says god's word is infinite, and forever...never changing? Sounds like god himself wants his word to be taken seriously, and not metaphorically.

Well, going "religious people can't think for themselves" is hardly an original thought, now is it?

Dracargen

Not original, but true. Should I stop telling the truth because you don't like the way it stings?

Actually, I'd give GameSpot a point for keeping me entertained. And as a troll, you were subtle, so reverse those scores.

[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"][QUOTE="Sooshy"][QUOTE="SolidSnake35"][QUOTE="Sooshy"]I'm not even arguing that God has to exist, but there is a higher being out there that made everything. You should at least believe that.Sooshy
I believe that there's a higher power. However, to think that one knows the exact truth is pure ignorance.

So we agree. I never said I know exactly what happened, but I know something is up there.

You believe in the Bible. That book is full of waffle, I'm afraid. It was written by us. We're not smart enough to know anything. If God told us, we'd be like... buh?

It was written by us, but through God's words. Maybe he didn't write it himself, but he told man what to write.

No God did not dictate the Bible. That is one of the most common deceptions around. The Bible was written by people who received divine revalation and inspiration. GOd did not say "write this here and that there."

It was written by man.

Psychosisrain

So what you're saying is that without god, 2+2=/=4?
