Old School Rap had meaning! Actual thought was put into the lyrics
Todays rap has no meaning at all.
I dont see how people can listen to that crap today?!
Yeah, some of it is pretty stupid. But I don't see why everyone always generalizes hip-hop slang to stuff like shi zzle. (Why is that censored?) That was made by Snoop Dog and is only used by Snoop Dog. nintendorocks
also used by idiot teenagers.........................and some adults.
rappers dont use 95% of the words people accuse them of saying...
Those words are mostly used by white people trying to make fun of them....they dont know what there talking about

Because if you dig a little, there's plenty of great stuff.
Its like any genre, the underground and independant stuff usually offers the most untapped talent.

Not true. Today's mainstream rap has no meaning. Real rap does. Though in rap nowadays, the bad definitely outweighs the good. There is some good stuff if you look hard enough. Rappers like Lupe Fiasco, Kayne West and Ghostface Killah are good, just to name a few. However, rap is nowhere near my top preference in music. Though Goldie Lookin Chain is ****ing boss.

I didnt realize that, bad example. Ja Rule is a better example.
it might help if you named some good bands :P
[QUOTE="SaintTheKing"]why do some rappers put "lil" in front of their name?
kurama2002
So they can feel young i think but almost all rappers with "lil" and "young" in front of there name suck.
there's only one reason why they put "lil" in front of their name..................has to do with a certain body part down there.

how did you deduce your last conclusion. Every genre of music has artist with equally silly and.or stupid names.Slipknot(WTF), Metallica,Dragonforce are equally as silly as Soulja Boy and Hurricane chris. On the matter of slang, slang itself is regional. Down south they say shawty while up north they say b or dunny. All the slang has some background to how they were created.

Ghostface was mainstream but he has kinda slipped off the mainstream radar. And yeah, Kayne West is mainstream and Lupe sort of is too I suppose. I guess I should have said most mainstream. But regardless, if you look at who is selling more records Flo Rida and Soulja Boy or Lupe Fiasco and Ghostface Killah. It will be undoubtedly the first two.

Whats so hard about rapping anyways? Anyone can talk into a mic.

Everyone is out to prove me wrong in this thread arn't they? :P The point there is some good rap and there is a lot of bad rap. You just have to figure out the difference. Mainstream or not.
I think a zeppelin is something that goes in the sky but I'm not sure. AC/DC is the current of power[QUOTE="fastesttruck"][QUOTE="nintendorocks"]You could say that about any genre of music. The Doors, who names a band after a ****ing door? Led Zeppelin, I'm not even 100% percent sure I know what that means. AC/DC, the list goes on. Film-Guy
Plus led zeppelin sounds good, easy e and names like kanye west just sound silly to me.
Thats subjective then lol.

So wait wtf...for example, President Bush giving a presidential speech talking into his mic would be considered rapping? Wonder how many records that would've sold.
