No offense to the work of your father, but those tax cuts didn't exist before Bush took office. Now the economy is a mess and the deficit is through the roof.
bman784

That's not because of tax cuts, it's because of tax cuts plus economic irresponsibility.

Nice to know non Americans actually realize the danger of Obama to, not only America, but the world.

My dad is currently tring to sell all his stocks. If Obama wins he will raise the Capital Gain tax resulting in us losing hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions. Obama hates the rich so he can get votes form the poor.

He doesn't hate the rich. He is just trying to make it fair.

Why do the rich get the tax cuts? It's not fair. Those tax cuts should go to the poor.

Why? My father worked his *** off for those tax cuts.

You are entirely right. Instead of trying to fix it, we should drastically change everything. I hope Obama wins, and when he fails I will be able to rub it in everyones face.

Agreed, my family is in the 45% tax bracket.

Please dont make me dig up the quotes in Obamas book. Basically he says he rejects being part white and has a hatred for his mothers race(white).

SylentButDeadly

In a reflective novel about growing up as a black kid in the late '60s and '70s? You're right. It was all sunshine and roses for black people back then:roll:

Your right, that make it ok to be racist. I agree the way they were treated was horrible, but they need to forget the past and get over it. Should I hate the North for killing one of my ancestors? No, its irrational.

he lived through it, you didnt

All the more reason to be proposing a large degree of economic restructuring.

This is obviously a manifesto of his beliefs. I mean, it couldn't be accounts from earlier in life when racial tension existed in society. Of course not.
bman784

I still don't think that sounds like the kind of person who should be president. If a white guy had written a book in 2004 talking about how it was necessary to "prove what side you were on and show your loyalty to the WHITE masses" he would instantly be labled a racist and wouldn't be able to get elected to the smallest, least powerfull public office in the country, let alone the presedency. Equal rights means just that, EQUAL for everybody.

Very good news indeed.

It is awful news. There is no reason my family should pay 10x more in taxes than people who don't make as much.

So you're saying that the only black person who is fit to run is one who lived through the civil rights movement having peachy, happy thoughts about the people who were openly discriminating against them? It seems your notions of equality are extremely unrealistic.

Congress passed the civil rights act in 1964 Obama was born in 1961. Just because you are a person who has been descriminated against because of their skin color, sexual orentation, or religion is not right, but you can't use that as an excuse. He refered to his grandmother as a "typical white woman". If a white guy had called someone a "typical black man" that would be seen as racist. Obama should get no more slack than we allow anyone else.

And of course the civil rights act instantly eliminated racism, right? Wrong. I don't know where you're getting your facts, but I don't seem to recall a time when Obama used his race as an excuse. Unless we're talking about the statements about his childhood, which, again, obviously represent his current beliefs:roll:. Citing the "typical white woman" comment, which has no racist connotations whatsoever if objectively analyzed, shows me that you're actively seeking reasons to object to Obama (ie grasping for straws). This whole reverse racism argument "if a member of x race said y" is really quite trivial, becuase it reveals nothing about the person in question. There isn't always a victim, and not everything has to be about race. People desperately need to learn that, and stop painting themselves as the victims in a "conflict" that is really quite contrived.

Basically I seen polls that said Hillary would beat McCain but McCain would beat Obama. I think the democrats really shot themselves in the foot when they nominated Obama for a few reasons.

Firstly McCain is seen as a moderate republican, he doesn't really have the support of the conservative hardliners etc, etc, I don't think there are many things that would motivate these people more to vote for McCain than the prospect of a black president.

Secondly you have the racists in the democratic party, they undoubtedly exist, though in smaller numbers than the republicans. McCain is a moderate republican, there are many democrats who wouldn't mind voting for him.

Then there is the fact he has already given off an image of being elitist, and the conservatives are alredy starting to paint him as a socialist. All the republicans have to do is point to gas prices and cry really loudly about taxes.

Finally there is the statistic I read that 20% of Americans think that Obama is a muslim, and even when they find out he is not a muslim, jeremiah wright wont exactly help his cause. Do not doubt the republicans will carry out a propaganda campaign on the internet with those sound bytes.

I would have preferred Hillary to win the nomination simply because I think she stood a better chance against McCain. What you have to remember is people will say one thing to a pollster so they don't sound racist or whatever but then go inside and vote entirely differently. Electoral college belongs to McCain this time.

The propaganda has already started, I have seen a lot of it, for example:

I don't really care much for either of the nominees to be honest. I felt that mitt romney was really the only one who represented my believes the best, but unfortunately he didn't get as much press as the other canidites and ultimately dropped out of the presidential election. McCain although not much of a conservative as he claims to be is the only one still running that has more of chance of me voting for.

In reality....while I don't believe the Republican party is enamored with McCain...he is still their candidate and one they'd rather see in office than a liberal Democrat. So McCain should carry his party. That leaves it up to the independents and Democratic vote.

Independents are undoubtedly not going to all favor any one specific candidate...the best to hope for is a split.

Now that leaves the Democratic party. It comes down to that party. It's split. There are Democrates that DON'T want Obama. Since McCain is more moderate there are those that can live with him in office particularly if Congress stays Democratic. Democrates will vote for McCain and not all follow the party line.

It's NOT a slam dunk for Obama.....

hmmm...I live in SW PA.....and I'm a democrat....though I'm not voting Obama. I don't like the man's character....I don't like the man's policies......and I don't like him as a candidate. I don't actually know how historians can predict such a huge win when he's turned off his own party.

Well they're both racially prejudiced in some way shape or form, but in my opinion Obama is less so.

Obama is set for President I think. Nobody wants to see a reincarnation of Bush and I think Obama carries less Prejudicial baggage. Also McCains second-in-command will receive alot of bad press, degrading McCain himself as a Presidential Candidate and lowering his chances.

No. My family is a hard working family. I don't want lazy bums to get less taxation then me. How is that right?

Actually, recent poll indicated that the opposite was true. That poll found that 68% of Democrat primary voters were satisfied with Obama as the nominee, whereas only 52% of those on the Republican side felt the same way about John McCain. I don't think it's exactly correct to say that McCain's Republican support is rock-solid, and the question gets raised regarding how many might just stay home.

To be fair, low income families are not necessarily lazy. Not at all.

You have more, you contribute more... that seems perfectly fair to me.
