It sure is great waiting for several hours in the ER because there aren't enough doctors! If only we could be like Canada. :(

[QUOTE="lazzordude"]What about it is unconstitutional? Anti-trust laws. Individuals cannot purchase health insurance across state lines. The government run system would allow the government essentially do this.i wish our supreme court would grow a pair and step up and declare this unconstitutional. unfortunately, they wouldn't even dare to look at this.

Congratulations on potentially joining the rest of the industrialized world:Pbluezy
I wonder how well the US healthcare system will hold up due to Americans poor eating habits and obesity. Also, since cost doest scale well with with larger and larger populations, the costs could eventually bury that country. 8) OF course, the pressure could make them wise up and they will slash their military budget by 80%.

You could at least pretend not to be thrilled by everything you see as ruining the US. Seriously, dude, it's really annoying...

I'm thrilled because it doesnt have to be the end, so long as the people make sensible choice to prioritize. The joy is that of watching a spoiled person realizing they cant have it all and that gluttony is not acceptable.

Thats probably because I welcome disasters and/or common sense that will reign in US warmongering. However, in most cases, I point out how it doesnt have to be all doom and gloom for the US if they just think and be sensible
"It provides coverage for 96 percent of Americans. It offers everyone, regardless of health or income, the peace of mind that comes from knowing they will have access to affordable health care when they need it," said Rep. John Dingell, the 83-year-old Michigan lawmaker who has introduced national health insurance in every Congress since succeeding his father in 1955.
So, uh, who are the 4% of Americans it doesn't provide coverage for?
You know, there were some protestors the other day on the news chanting, "Kill the bill. Kill the bill," and I suddenly had this image in my head of them instead chanting, "Kill the poor. Kill the poor."
I find it fascinating that our government will pass a bill that they are unsure or unwilling to put their own families on. So funny. Wonder how many more layoffs are going to happen because companies are going to have to be burdened with the costs? Hopefully no one in my family is told to wait a few months for necessary surgery again. Woohoo!Sajedene
Being the most populous first world nation, Americans will undoubtedly have long wait times. Some good can come of this, aggressive actions promoting better eating to reduce diabetes, heart disease, lower the amount of cars on the road by expanding public transit, exercise etc. A significant improvement in those areas will go a long way to lower the strain on hospitals and doctors
This really is a blessing for you Americans, because a national health system can't work with such a massive population that aren't health conscious. It wont be apparent at first, but eventually Americans will be forced to change their ways or risk breaking the health system like they did their economy.
I'm rooting for you guys to make the right changes ;)
So what's in the bill? I'm for socialized medicine, but I can't find anyone with the courage to support it.

Thats probably because unlike many other initiatives this requires a change in lifestyle from the American people, otherwise it wont work in the long run and will break
I'm guessing sometime in the future new provisions will be added where people will be tested for irresponsible weight gain, blood pressure, cholesetrol and may have to pay extra. also, I can see green initiatives being married with health care. More public transit usage will cut down on the pollution, resource usage and wrecks that send so many americans to the hospital.
Obama/congress delivered (almost) on their promise, now its up to the American people to make sure it doesnt collapse and fail. Time for a lifestyle change

I've got better ideas than them to improve healthcare. Like, convince the NFL NBA and other pro sports to actually look from within our own populace rather than around the globe for atheletes. That would make sports much more acceesable to the average person. Colleges should take the initiative to draft atheletes that represent thier own areas and such, rather than searching for the very best peice of meat around the country and globe. It seems like some on the left are blowin their load rather early because now the Senate has to pass its version of the bill with 60 votes, and then it goes to a special committee where they will have to fuse the House and Senate bill together...which is where they are going to have a problem. Problem being...the House bill has a public option; the Senate bill most likely won't...the House bill pays for it one way; the Senate bill pays for it another...the House bill cost 1.1 trillion dollars and adds to the deficit (above what the President said he wanted); the Senate bill we have yet to get a scoring from the CBO. Then when the committee comes up with the final bill, it has to be voted out of that committee, and then it goes back to the House and Senate again for a final vote.
Clearly there is still a ways to go.

well atleast its an improvement over the system and percentage we have now
Look at Virginia to see how gov't run healthcare doesn't work. If this bill gets passed, I want to move to the mountains and live off the land in secret.
[QUOTE="soulless4now"]It sure is great waiting for several hours in the ER because there aren't enough doctors! The problem is that people go to the ER for very minor things that don'y need an ER visit. And to battle that, at least in Ontario, the government rolled out some ads telling people to think of all their other options before they head to the ER. The US government, should this end up signed, should do the same.If only we could be like Canada. :(

I don't think we are out of the woods yet. I sure hope the senate passes it, but there is still the off chance they won't.
So much for that breaking Obama and Waterloo nonsense. theharlemshakeor putting hitler mustaches on him..........wait that will still probably happen
[QUOTE="Dogswithguns"]Good, I need a decent health care..... or is it bad?majwill24
How much money do you make a year?
I make about 19200 a year, they do have health care at work, not all that great it's more like paying too much for it weekly for return.... so I canceled it for a year now.
Well that just shows how much you know about the legislative process.... 1st off, it is NOT unconstitutional since the constitution says nothing about healthcare, and secondly it goes to the Supreme Court AFTER the President signs it...i wish our supreme court would grow a pair and step up and declare this unconstitutional. unfortunately, they wouldn't even dare to look at this.

I voted for Obama on the promise of universal healthcare but ironicly I am in the "bummer" crowd simply due to that fine print of "If you can't/don't pay for healthcare we will fine you or put you in prison". That's really grabbing me.
