It could cost up to 80 billion dollars, and the bill is something you would see in the late 30's in germany. If Obama takes away private property, I'll be waiting for the government on my roof with my rifle, If he takes away gun rights, I'll be wating on my roof with all of my guns.

Except he's not going to do either of those.

Seriously, people are overreacting.

I voted for Obama on the promise of universal healthcare but ironicly I am in the "bummer" crowd simply due to that fine print of "If you can't/don't pay for healthcare we will fine you or put you in prison". That's really grabbing me.

If you don't pay your taxes, you also go to jail. Isn't it basically the same thing?

Difference between income and mandated purchases.

How are taxes not mandated purchases?

i wish our supreme court would grow a pair and step up and declare this unconstitutional. unfortunately, they wouldn't even dare to look at this.

hamstergeddon
Well that just shows how much you know about the legislative process.... 1st off, it is NOT unconstitutional since the constitution says nothing about healthcare, and secondly it goes to the Supreme Court AFTER the President signs it...

In general, the Constitution says what the federal government is allowed to do, not what they are not allowed to do. Otherwise, it would be many thousands of pages long.

You know thats only if you can afford it right?

I have heard this but that is very vague when it comes to government. How is it decided "if you can pay for it"? I.E. By how much you make annually or something else? Because if it's by actual income then I can garuntee plenty will fall through the cracks.

I'm all for universal healthcare. But as I'm someone who can barely pay the bills I am worried of another possible bill being tossed at me wether I want it or not.

And if he could achieve either of those things I doubt he and the government would have trouble taking out one lone nutjob on a rooftop.
