football is 1000x more boring. stop start stop start stop start stop start. what a boring sport. soccer takes way more skill too.

Because 2-2 is a high scoring game, because they go up and down the field multiple times without scoring, because it amounts to an entire game of passing the ball back and forth with some scoring mixed in (if you're lucky).
Who cares if football has breaks between plays? It's high intensity, the game happens at lightning fast speed, players at key positions (quarterback, wide receiver, running back, kick returners, pass rushers) make insanely athletic plays, the hits are tough and crushing.
As for one or the other make more skill, it's a bullsh*t argument, any sport takes a ton of talent to master.
What's the difference between officially stopping play and knocking it around the pitch between defenders and the keeper? Not much. I love watching soccer and football, but your points are worthless and whiny.dodgerblue13
Because stopping play lets you know when there's nothing going on the field, with soccer there's nothing going on for the majority of the game.
Oh yeah, and as to why football rocks, because it's a highly strategic game with one-on-one matches going on throughout the game. If there's a speedster receiver good coaches find a way to gameplan him; if a team isn't great at passing they find a way to win with special teams, running, and defense; If the opposing team has a good pass rusher you double him and see if they can adjust.

I lol'd. But watching soccer takes a certain appreciation for the whole process. The breakout can happen at any time and even a near goal is quite exciting. It's certainly not for everyone, but no one should whine about how boring another sport is to justify the worth of soccer.[QUOTE="Setsa"]By that logic, all video-games are boring due to load screens :o I mean, why can't I just play my game? But noooo! It's gotta be all stopstartstopstart!Cataclism
Last time I checked, a large amount of load screens wasn't a quality people enjoyed in video games.
Yeah, but minor breaks from gameplay don't turn people away from playing the game. The same goes for American football, a few seconds in between plays doesn't really demean the game overall.[QUOTE="theone86"][QUOTE="dodgerblue13"]What's the difference between officially stopping play and knocking it around the pitch between defenders and the keeper? It is personal opinion. Why do people call me smelly? Why is my neighbors grass more greener? Why is snow cold?HemmaroidsIt's impressive how well you can convey absolutely nothing in four sentences.
I don't really like soccer, but where I live NFL fans never EVER shut the f*ck up. So, soccer gets my vote (I guess)VanHelsingBoA64yea in europe the soccer fans sit down.

My opinion as well.second Third.[QUOTE="CRS98"][QUOTE="majoras_wrath"]Soccer is boring because I hate sports.almasdeathchild
Yes....hockey puts them both to shame.....and other sports as well.I love to play soccer but not to watch. Most the time its just kicking the ball back in fourth trying to get even somewhat close to the goal.
But anways... Hockey > all

because 95% of the time all you are doing is watching people jog. 4% of the time they sprint. And 1% of the time, something exciting happens.
I love soccer, or I should say, I love playing soccer. My favorite sport as a child.
But for watching, it doesnt get any worse. I'd rather watch golf.
And why do people always compare soccer to football? Why not compare soccer to baseball? Or golf? Or curling?
Sounds like football, but you run more.Soccer is boring because all you did is watch a bunch of people run around flopping until someone scores 1 goal after a hour. Then jump around and have a gay orgy.

Not trying to instigate, just ask. But I watch a lot of hockey, too. Why do you find the dump-and-chases, penalty kill clears, and errant shots of hockey enjoyable, but not the similarities of soccer? I realize there's much more to hockey, but there are a lot of efforts to get the puck deep and then gain control and run the offense. Soccer isn't too different from that. What is it to you that makes the strategic approaches of trying to score in hockey more enjoyable than those in soccer?I love to play soccer but not to watch. Matter of opinion really, I sometimes enjoy watching soccer. I prefer tennis and golf though.chessmaster1989
My dad loves watching golf, I can't understand it for the life of me. It's not that I dislike the sport either, I actually enjoy playing it very much.
They are both fun to play, but I prefer watching rugby.
OB-47
I dislike rugby almost as much as soccer. Watching rugby makes me appreciate the pauses in play during gridiron.
Haha! Best answer there can be for not liking just about anything.Soccer is boring because I don't understand the stratagies involved nor do I care enough to learn them.
Wasdie
yea i actually loathe american football (flame me if you wish:P), each play is a couple second long, then they spend like 40 seconds to reposition, and so forth

Yeah I don't know anyone who likes watching golf who doesn't play it. But at least we agree playing it is fun. :P (I'm terrible at golf though  )[QUOTE="Pikdum"]Not trying to instigate, just ask. But I watch a lot of hockey, too. I think it's because hockey is faster paced, and they have some really tough hits. I also think hockey has far more shots on goal than soccer, partly due to the field of play being shorter.
