I remember I used to listen to the Backstreet Boys and N'sync when I first moved to the U.S from england. But then I got into porcupine tree thanks to a friend of mine. It was a mix of Porcupine tree, super furry animals, The Who, the kinks, blur, pink floyd, and The beatles that got me into music. Also my dad used to always listen to Hall and Oates, and The Eagles when I was a lad so I guess them too because I still listen to them:P

When I was really little all that was ever played in my house was country. My dad listened to alice cooper but I never really got into that. I remember being like.. 3 and the album cover with the bugs scared me for some reason. When I grew up I watched "the hit list" on YTV, then I started buying mix cds. In grade 8 when I started browsing the internet more I found a lot more music and changed my tastes a bit.

The internet was a big deal for me too, heck the internet has been revolutionary for finding music. My brother's band White Shoe Brown Shoe probably would not have been heard if it wasnt for the internet. Also i remember he and I used to argue over what boy band was the best back in the 90s. I liked N'sync the most by far:D

It was a friend of mine who got me into my 12 mosher phase so I was listening to things like Linkin Park, Slipknot, Korn etc. I was also listening to a lot of Take Off Your Pants and Jacket by Blink. This went onto till about 13 when another friend introduced me to pop punk and hardcore. Recently, my friends have been getting me into dubstep and I have been getting into some DnB. That's my life story in music .

Grew up listening to my parents selection, a lot of Queen, Pearl Jam and The Doors. I then discovered The Offspring and I was immediately drawn to them, my father buying the album Americana. Then a friend of mine introduced me to Metal when I was six. I believe it was in April 1999. His older brother who was 15 at the time had racks of all sorts of albums. So I went past and listened to some Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and iirc Deicide and Morbid Angel. It progressed from there, remaining a metalhead through out most of my life until a year or two ago when I got into progressive rock, Rush and Pink Floyd to start with. Not too long after that I got into industrial and electro based music thanks to Nine Inch Nails and other bands such as Velvet Acid Christ, so that further progressed my taste. All the while my tastes in Metal has also evolved, going from Thrash/Heavy Metal to Progressive Metal, then Death and Black Metal, and now its all sort of mixed together.

Well, I was listening to what my older sisters were listening to such as: Backstreet Boys ( :P ) and other boy-bands and also euro-dance and lastly some Scorpions' ballads. I still remember they had a casette which first song was Send Me An Angel. Great song.

Luckily, at the time, my sisters werent listening to any Greek music so, again luckily, never got into it. And also when I got my own room I used to listen to the radio pretty much always and got my radio-friendly songs from there.

And then from there when I was 15-16 I started to discover more about the Scorpions and thus I started listening to rock music. :)

Well, I always enjoyed listening to music in the car (whatever my dad had on), and then my dad bought Elect The Dead by Serj Tankian about 2 years ago. And then I realized music could be listened to OUTSIDE of an automobile, and with headphones.

I've gone from there.

I wasn't actually into any music until I was about 14-15. My friend used to listen to pop-punk and nu-metal which rubbed off on me, like Blink 182 and Limp Bizkit. My dad then got the Greatest Hits of Guns N Roses but gave it to me because it was too heavy for him. From there I just got into more and more different kinds of metal and rock.

I didn't listen to any music until about the age of 12 or 13. Then a friend gave me a couple of CDs and I started exploring different genres (lucky for me my friend had good taste).

I listened to the radio in elementary school. I was pretty much into pop/punk, grunge, and post-grunge back then. I progressed onto nu-metal and those sorts of things. Then I realized that there's more to music than hooks and ABABCB song structures that you hear on the radio all the time, and then I started getting into a lot of harder genres, starting with some crossover and melodic death metal. Next came progressive death metal, blackened death metal, and plain old death metal, and then doom and black. Now I'm into pretty much every genre of metal bar Drone (with some exceptions) and Thrash.

Well my mom listens to a lot of music and when I was little we always used to listen to her old school funk stuff. So from there I got into disco, then a few crap rock bands when I got in middle school...and from there I have just been on a roll.

I have most of mymusic tastes influenced by my mother. That sounds kind oftragic, but she is big on 70s prog and bands like Led Zepplin. Yeah, not so tragic now is it :P Well in my opinion anyway. I used to hear music alot when traveling between places in cars, which was often. I didn't really start listening to music until I was something like ten, and even then not often. The first album I really bought that really got me into music, and the second album I ever bought, was There isNothing Left to Lose bythe Foo Fighters, which by the way is an excellent album and highly overlooked in my opinion. I didn't really start taking music all that seriously until a few years ago, andI've been playing catch up since.

It was a bold attempt to pick up one of my sister's friends that first got me going to gigs and listening to stuff that wasn't playing on the radio.

I was always listening to music from a young age, though I didn't really like much of it. Then, my dad played Led Zeppelin IV, and I was instantly in love. From then on, I kept expanding my tastes, though I've never strayed to far away from classic rock.

My parents raised me on country music, practically banned me from listening to anything else. As soon as I was able to get a stereo I started listening to 80s radio and top 40. I got into Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt, Foo Fighters and Matthew Good Band, and kinda stuck with that until late 2000 when I got on Gamespot, and a few members(DireRaven, Calavara, Aqualung, etc.) were all "Hey listen to this" and I started getting into Genesis and other prog rock, and got addicted to Allmusic and Insound's free MP3 samples. Then I just branched out and bam, here I am today.

I too used to be all about the Backstreet Boys, N'Sync and all of those other pop groups when I was younger. Then I drifted into classic rock for a while. Eventually, I started to accept that I like basically any genre as long as the music sounds good to me. And here I am today.

Before the age of 9 I was into whatever my dad would play (good stuff luckily). Then after I didn't care I got back into it starting at age 13 by going back to some of those bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

I liked Don Mclean when I was little. I then heard "Somebody Told me" on the radio, and instantly got hooked on The Killers, new wave revival, and 80's pop in general. I then just enjoyed synth-esque pop from the 80's and 90's, found REM and Radiohead- and there we are.
