It may well be decent, but I bet all these people wouldn't watch it if it wasn't supposed to be a little girls show. If it was just a normal cartoon with exactly the same dialogue it would not have this following. It has the following because "look at us, we don't give a f*** if it's a girls show, ha!". cheese_game619As I've said many times, I think that's a good part of why there's so much fan material. The show has fans on its own merits, but just how many image macros and remixes and videos, etc., exist, is, in my mind, largely due to what you said, the "look at us" factor. Not that I'm any less guilty. My first t-shirt was subtle, simply said "20% Cooler" My next one, however, was made to look like a Wonderbolts jumpsuit, and once I'm no longer broke, I'm going to be getting an even less ambiguous shirt, probably one featuring Vinyl Scratch. Vinyl Scratch is actually a good example of just how crazy this fandom can be. She appeared for less than five seconds in a single episode, simply to start up a turntable and bob her head a bit. Fans gave her a name (stage name is DJ Pon-3, later acknowledged by the show in a commercial), and there is fanfiction, fan-art, music (both about her, inspired by her, and credited to her), fan animations, videos where she bobs her head in time to pretty much any popular song imaginable, and of course, a radio drama. The colour of her eyes (she was only ever seen with glasses, see my sig) was the subject of a long and fierce debate. Personally though, I think it's pretty cool just how much talent, power, and creativity the fandom wields, how much fan content is produced every hour of the day, every day. As I said earlier today, after seeing a piece of Final Fantasy 7 crossover artwork... "Bronies. There is a line here, and we have clearly... YET TO CROSS IT. FULL STEAM AHEAD!"
