It's seriously upsetting. It's a complete whiteout outside, and I still have to go to school. But I'm not surprised, schools never close here. We can upwards of two feet of snow, and there would still be places open. There is a complete and absolute disregard for people who have to drive. If a snow truck can make it somewhere, their assumption and everyone else can. What I missed about High School is I could merely just take the bus. But being in college, I have no choice but to drive in my tiny Ford =(. And I'm probably going to die. Is your city like this?

If it snows the whole city shuts down. Of course I live in Texas and it snows like once every 20 years and rarely sticks to the ground for more than a few hours.

My city is pretty good with snow removal. Obviously they clean off the busiest streets first, so if you live in a strictly residential area, it probably sucks. Fortunately in my part of the neighborhood, I live in a main street, so it gets plowed right away. They have to keep on top of it here...I mean, I live in Fargo, North Dakota. It doesn't really matter how much snow we get or how cold and/or windy it is -- we pretty much all have to return to our daily lives of work and school in the morning. It's pretty rare that we get snow days. When we do, the weather has to be damn bad.

Lol. I always have to shovel snow for my house and my Neighbors house. Although my Neighbor just recently got a Snow Blower so, I'm kind of out of a job there. :P

My School NEVER Cancelled for snow days, no matter how deep ( Homeschooled :D ). I think my college cancels for snow days though.

Cool, What School are you using? We used "Kolbe Academy".

When you're ready to go to college you might meet some discrimination against Homeschoolers. One of the schools I wanted to go to kind of snubbed me because I was Homeschooled.

We don't use a packaged curriculum of any sort. It's just a plain curriculum that doesn't involve much parent/teacher interraction; I do almost everything by myself. I like homeschooling so far, though. I skipped a grade already (I'm 15 in the 11th grade). :3

I live in Colorado, hence all of the badass snow plowers and burly men with shovels. :P

I wish we had snow... earlier this year we only had about 2 weeks of snow, and it wasn't even that much anyways (it ended up being really dirty after one week). I don't think it would much difference for me since I walk to school.

Yeah, I did the same thing, I basically taught myself everything. Who grades your exams?

MY exams were either sent to our local Highschool or to the School that we got our Curriculum from.

Not too well, actually, especially near schools. Couple kids slipped and cracked their heads on ice in the depressions on the foursquare court in elementary school, and I've fallen a few times on patches of sheer ice outside school doors. The rest of the city kind of cleans it like a 6 year old cleans their room; stuffs it off the roads and when it piles up so high you can't see past the mounds, they get it out of sight and out of mind.

I live in the northern US, so we handle it quite well. Otherwise, we'd have to shut down for 5 months of the year. Plows are out early and usually have the roads clear and salted. Most but not all people are smart enough to drive in it.

If we even get a dusting, and I'm talking about a half an inch of snow, all of the schools will shut down. When people in this town hear about any indication of snow, they will rush to the supermarket, and stock up on food. It really is ridiculous - but I get off of school, so I'm not complaining. I hope it snows soon..

We get A LOT of snow every year. Usually by the end of January there is two ft. of snow or more. I've seen much worse though. However the town deals with it rather well, some places become an exception though with no place to drive/park/walk.

Plows, salt, and sand, like most places I imagine. My dad used to work for the street department in my city, and had to go to work at 11 PM if the weather was bad (all the time :P ), and work a 16 hour shift every day. Just about every year, he would be out plowing snow on Christmas day. I have a lot of respect for the guys that clean the streets. :P

MY town has one of the best lines of snowplows in any town in illinois. This is no joke to. It wasnt always this way. About 8 years ago we were like every other town. We would get snow days. Now that will never happen. The roads are always plowed very well. Even a lot of the side streets are spotless during snow.

Where I'm living now they tend to let it go for a bit before sending out the plows or trucks to lay salt, of course this sucks for the morning commute to work since everyone has to go about 10mph over the ice. Luckily I don't live to far away from work so it doesn't concern me to much. When I used to live in Michigan those guys where on top of it in no time until the budget would run out and they would just leave it or throw sand down on top to give some sort of traction.

True, I'm getting better at it. But my city is, for the most part, all hills. So having a car can really be a pain. Then there's the factor that our plows and salters are terrible. Even though my city is within the 15 snowiest cities in the United States, they still don't do a very effective job. You can't even see the roads for the most part, so it gets difficult to discern lanes.

If there are mutiple feet of snow, school will usually close. Also if there's threats of ice forming in the street even if their isn't much snow school will be delayed or closed. Once it closed when there was no snow, just rain. I guess they thought it might freeze over or something.

Now I'm in college though in a place where it usually snows a lot, I doubt they'd close anytime soon.

The town and the county each have a fleet of trucks to take care of most storms. It was the bane of my childhood; we needed like at least 8 inches to get off from school.

We use rods of fire and amulets that ward off the cold.
