Sin is a transgression against a divine law. Just because you don't believe the divine law is legitimate doesn't mean you can define sin by your own standards.
Yes it does... **shifty eyes**
Seriously, though, the Pope and the Bible don't religiously bind atheists to the Ten Commandments and whatever the Pope declares as sin. Therefore, watching porn is not a sin for atheists. :|
But if it makes you feel better here's my new comment: "If you don't get an erection, it's not a sin... :?"
Firstly, the pope didn't declare it as sin.
Secondly, you have to understand that 'sin' is a word with a definition. Atheists may not think it applies to them, but that doesn't change what the word means.
it is a sin according to your beliefs. that does not make it objectively wrong.
Nevermind to all. It's really frustrating debating with people who hypocritically proclaim their disbelief in God while at the same time using a word (sin) that can have no meaning without Him. Just because you don't think it's wrong doesn't mean you can re-define a word in which you don't believe.
This thread is going by Christian context of the term "sin," is it not? Atheists =/= Christians. Atheists are not bound by the Ten Commandments. Therefore watching porn =/= sin... for Atheists.
Are you saying there's an atheist context to the word 'sin'? It is a religious term, and it means nothing to atheists. By your logic, you could also say, "The Ten Commandments don't apply to me, therefore the fourth commandment is not 'honor thy father and mother.'"
Need I remind you people how rediculous the 10 commandments are in the first place? Apparently swearing and not honoring mother and father is a sin.. But child abuse and rape are not.. Man that makes SOOO much sense.
