Are you socially awkward?

I tend to perform much better socially around strangers than my family and people I've known for a while. More of a blank slate.I have minor problems holding onto a conversation with total strangers. That's about it.

Same here. I'd rather say nothing than participate in a fake conversation that does not interest me in the slightest. Not really, it's just that people tend to talk about stuff that's so incredibly boring that I have nothing to say to them in response. Or some guy I barely know will start talking to me and I'm like, I barely know you, go away.

I am quite shy, which unfortunately means that I have to rely on others to start conversation, although I can carry a conversation on. Unless it's someone I know, in which case I can be pretty normal about social interaction. So I only come off as socially awkward to people who make no effort to know me, but judge me as "that quiet guy".
I used to be socially awkward and had problems talking to people unless it was a job interview or some other important interview, in those I turned into a completely different person.
Then I got a job and found that people really like me and want to hang out with me outside of work, so I sort of came out of my shell only to discover my dislike for approximately 99% of the people I meet.
Nowdays when I'm employed I don't connect with my co-workers, I don't add them on Facebook or give them my number. Keeping it strictly professional works best, when you befriend co-workers they abuse your "friendship" and try to get you to do their job for them.
And honestly, after experiencing the insanity of females when a friend(not even girlfriend, FRIEND! ) got mad at me because I didn't answer a 2 AM text message because I was asleep after a long day of hard labor, and she knew that, I don't ever want a relationship.
I'm not, but I sometimes talk fast and people can't understand me, so there are generally a lot of pauses of '...what?'
Very much so, but I'm getting better over time.
That's a terrible reason to not want a relationship. Hasty generalizations like that are going to do more harm than good for you. I learned that the hard way.And honestly, after experiencing the insanity of females when a friend(not even girlfriend, FRIEND! ) got mad at me because I didn't answer a 2 AM text message because I was asleep after a long day of hard labor, and she knew that, I don't ever want a relationship.

Yeah, I have troubling talking sometimes, so that doesn't help it out. Public speaking can piss off, as well.

Any advice sucks for public speaking. I'd rather just take a .50cal to the skull.I heard practicing to people you know is good, though. Never tried much but I didn't do great either lol. 50cal sounds good too. And ghokle, if you need somebody to yell your speech at hit me up on skype.MrPraline
I always just winged it with speeches. I agree with the 50 cal option though.

I hate public speaking with a passion, that's why I hated college.
Yeah, it's not so bad now as it was previously. I used to sweat profusely. I have it under control now for the most part.[QUOTE="CHOASXIII"][QUOTE="Shottayouth13-"]I'm mildly glossophobic, that 's about it. Otherwise I handle myself quite well in varying social situations.Shottayouth13-
