It has nothing to do with being a wuss **** If you had the things rolling around in your head that I do mine you'd use to.[QUOTE="mywalletsgone"][QUOTE="leonadasz2"] Call me a wuss when you've kicked heroin from a jail cell. (i'm off the drugs now btw)leonadasz2

I'd find an outlet pertaining to what I'm good at!
Listen to happy songs!
Daniel Boone wants to make you happy!
So do the Beach Boys!
Joshywaa
I'm all for the Beach Boys suggestion. 8)

[QUOTE="leonadasz2"] I have learnt that it is important to connect with nature leperphiliacThis! Listen to some Agalloch and go for a hike or go sky diving with me :)
My life was like that for a long while, but I took medicine to even myself out.Since I moved in with a couple of friends I've not needed anything to make me happy, though.
Maybe you just need to get out more, try more things, make new friends.
If you are having trouble finding enjoyment in activities that you used to enjoy, you may have depression. Depends on the severity and length of the episode, I think. Lots of people go through periods where they are down, but if it becomes prolonged or severe than you may want to see a specialist.
Chuck Norris kokes cheer me up:
Chuck norris stared at the sun for 4 hours and the sun blinked
chuck norris walked down the street with an erection, there were no survivors
chuck norris kicked a horse in the chin, its decedants are now known as the giraffe. Hope these made you laugh :)
[QUOTE="JasonDarksavior"]Play sport with mates. Nothing better than to play rugby or soccer in the sun with your mates. Great feeling.GazaAliwhat if he didn't have mates... A team or whatever. Most important is to get out there and be active. When you are doing sports, your body secretes chemicals to make you feel good.
seriously, the best recommendation i can give is make sure your diet is good and that you get exercise and sunlight during the day. anytime i've ever felt depressed i could eat a good meal, get a little exercise and sun and i'd feel better within 24 hrs. if you continue the habit daily you'll probably begin feeling even happier.
Change your mind. Change who you are. You won't be able to change immediately, just one step at a time. When I was depressed 2 years ago I figured "I am not happy with who I am, so I have to change...I need to change." So I did. I can't really pinpoint what, exactly I did to become happier, but right now I can't wait to get a hold of the future and keep improving my own life.
Try working out,do some exercise..do some yoga and pray.Don't ever try depression or anti- anxiety medication.. that will get you hooked up and comming off would be a pain in the A$$.
Stay active and do things that make you happy. I went through some depression just recently, and what really helped me was being outside with friends and doing fun stuff. If you don't have any friends, go to a social place and make some! If you suck at making friends or are anti-social, just get out and sprint around town yelling! LET IT ALL OUT, MAN! You're gonna be ok:)
@Lockedge
lol That post is me down to a "t." Depression and anxiety can be a b**** but so long as you figure out the things in your life (excercize and sun light are pretty universal I assume) that help you stay positive and keep you in balance and force yourself to stay on top of those things, you're good for the most part. Although I've been slipping bad lately. That's why I'm ordering that p90x baby lol.
:P To be honest, I don't exercise a heck of a lot. Mostly, before I head back home from school I stop off at the campus gym and do 20-30 minutes on the rowing machine. Enough to have some fun, keep myself a bit active, etc. School's over now though, so I'll probably just jog and rollerblade a bit from here on out until school starts again. The p90x thing is supposed to be pretty fun though. One of my friends does it, seems to get results and have a good time. Yeah, depression just requires you to be really aware, and to refrain from pushing anything to the backburner. I set goals for myself, and I try to achieve them. if I do, great. if I don't, I find out why, and see where I could improve. It's a constant effort, sometimes it's a bit tiring, but it's better than the alternative. MUCH better. Hope your p90x helps you out :) If you're in the northern hemisphere, Spring is on its way/is here, and that tends to help matters.@Lockedge

Thrash metal... berserker2389You put beer and a woman in that situation, and you my friend, have a killer time.
Stay away from psychiatrists. All you do is pay to listen to some idiot give you obvious, cliched advice for an hour and a half. It's a waste of money. Most people know what they need to do; they're just either unwilling or unable to do it. I would suggest distracting yourself with exercise or some other productive interest. That probably sounds cliched too, but I know nothing about you so that's all I can tell you. I don't like giving advice. :/
@Lockedge
Yeah, my symptoms usually get worse during the fall and winter. Not good for school, but I've got it figured out for the most part. Summer can't get here soon enough though.
Well, to be honest, unless you're willing to help yourself, therapy isn't a good solution. Too many go there at the behest of others, and just sit there and say nothing. You have to want to receive help for therapy to be helpful. You have to be open to asking and answering questions about your experiences, but mostly answering and asking questions about yourself.Stay away from psychiatrists. Therapy does nothing unique that a person can't do on their own.
EDIT: Unless you're talking medication.

therapy is more of the middle man between love, hate and regret. and you can only ever chose two. medications are a bit more finicky. some help. some make things worse. some put you places others wouldnt dare. and such is the beast of the human mind

No. Therapy is some dumb lady who just sits there and nods her head.
