Jebus213
well someone from NJ died in Florida during the Hurricane
Irene just cleared our area. What a let-down: some broken twigs, some rain, and... that's it. I've been in minor snowstorms that were more intense. Way too much hype. :?

Is it true that there's another 'cane coming? :|
parkurtommo
you mean Hurricane Jose? i hear its supposed to pass north of New Jersey/New York and hopefully miss us
so a storm that affected millions upon millions of people, cost surely way more than that, knocked out power that won't be back for days for said people, flooded countless areas and did minor damage to the entire north east coast + mid atlantic coast was disappointing? i can't wait until you find that storm that truly fits your needsIrene just cleared our area. My dream storm would be a zombie apocalypse. Hard to make that disappointing.[QUOTE="OrkHammer007"]so a storm that affected millions upon millions of people, cost surely way more than that, knocked out power that won't be back for days for said people, flooded countless areas and did minor damage to the entire north east coast + mid atlantic coast was disappointing? i can't wait until you find that storm that truly fits your needsWhat I'm saying is, the news had us preparing for something on the order of Armageddon: "It's going to be a Cat 1 hurricane that just stepped down from a Cat 2... it will tear through the area causing catastrophic damage... make peace with God, for the End of Days is near!!!"Irene just cleared our area. What we got was a lot of rain, some broken twigs, and 10 seconds worth of power outage.
Don't get me wrong: it's a good kind of letdown. No one I know was hurt or killed. It's still kind of a letdown, though.
One other thing... a few days ago, someone mentioned that a 2.9 tremor centered in Altamont may or may not have broken a local dam. That dam apparently held up with no serious problems... very good thing, too (story here).
power just came on here 2 hours ago been without power for bout a day. All in all it was not bad at all but I have seen tons upon tons upon tons of trees down around here since I live in a wooded area.

this was a total non-event, so disapointsurrealnumber5Your gazebo plans did not yield any excitement?
my electricity was out for 2 days sucked so bad trees and power lines where knocked down everwhere and some ladys house got destroyed and 5 people died so it was an above average day with fewer loss of life and property damage, and some people, my self included, lost power for some time.... a non-event.[QUOTE="surrealnumber5"]this was a total non-event, so disapointcoltgames

When you get a mandatoy evacuation order it would be wise to follow it
IPWNDU2
Exactly. I remember reading a news story about a woman who called her friend who didn't evacuate on Bolivar Peninsula during the storm. The woman was never heard from again and whereabouts unknown, all because she didn't want to leave her house, she lost her life. While I don't feel bad for adults that don't evacuate when told to do so, I feel bad for the kids who lose their life due to their parents stupid decision to ride out a storm.

If you hadn't said anything I would not have noticed, but looking back, I see the post with the pics I posted are gone. Thank you. He has made some really weird claims recently and not just in this thread or sub-forum.
