[QUOTE="Dracula68"]Just so people are aware I deleted the posts where you quoted the troll this way you don't get moderated as well.NiKva
I'm guessing that I was said troll? I was being entirely serious.

Well if you were really serious then I would keep those opinions to yourself if you would like to stick around.

On topic, some people have said this wasn't that bad a hurricane but try telling that to the people still without power for day number 4 now and the one's that had their basements flooded out. I don't know about other areas of the world but here most basements are finished so that just compounds things even more.

I would actually call that sad really. It looks like you are being sarcastic, but still, even if the beach was that trashed before the storm, that garbage ended up in the ocean and is an environmental catastrophe. All the flood waters from the storm also end up in the same place, but with raw sewage added to it.

I just read that Irene is probably going to end up being one of the 10 costliest disaster is US history. Something around 10 billion dollars worth in damage, and a lot of it wasn't insured.

Katia is next. It is expected to go form tropical storm to hurricane later today. And is expected to become a major hurricane before reaching the Caribbean. This one is concerning, because it developed quickly and far away that it has plenty of time to just get stronger. The future track is uncertain, but it is currently right on hurricane alley.

Tropical Storm Katia has all the relevant information you seek.

Also, 45 have lost their lives due to Irene so far. Damages are expected to exceed $10B. Irene affected a large area and due to some places already being waterlogged, the rain from the storm had no where to go, hence the extent of the flooding being as large as it is.

Due to natural processes such as the Trade Winds and the Westerlies and oceanographic happenstance, this is the time of year that the US encounters hurricanes. Same with the western Pacific and Asian countries with typhoons.

The Weather Channel's historical hurricane tracker is really neat. You can adjust it to any period of time you want to see how often hurricanes hit during a certain period of time. Case in point in 79, only 3 hurricanes/tropical storms hit the US. It really is a cool tool.

That's the way the world is. These things have been going on long before we ever settled the East Cost like we have. They'll go on after we've killed ourselves off.

Well, I am somewhat an authority on fun (shown recently due to the fact that I didn't learn a single thing about chainsaws during Irene, yet got my shorts quite dirty nonetheless.
