Is anyone fed up of singers/rappers sounding like robots in their songs?
It just sounds so ridiculous and annoying, please tell me I'm not alone D:

This! It's easy to avoid, but yes, it is annoying.I don't like it, but its rare I listen to the music with autotune on, I avoid it if I can.

Basically your voice goes in imperfect and comes out perfectly tuned and artificial.Whats autotune?

[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"]Cher's fault. Yes, I hate it.z4twenny
LOL, no no no
cher used it in a couple songs. friggin T Pain and Kanye decided everyone with a microphone in their hands on the west coast needed autotune.
Cher was first ;)Yes...the only band that can really pull of robotic vocals is Cynic.:P Darth-CaedusI forgot about Cynic. They're quite a good band.
It's how much of the pop stars succeed nonetheless....I am a bit tired of it too, just seems lazy to me.

Here's the deal, Im not for, or against autotune. I hate the whole t-pain electronic voicing, sure, but listen:
Autotune is much much more complicated then just "t-pain". We studied them in music technology class in school.
Lets say your singing a song in a studio, and you hit 550/551 notes, why would you re-record the whole song if you could just fix the one mistake on the fly? Its that kind of stuff Im okay with.
Also, when it comes to pain-to-tune instruments like the Piano, some notes could be a couple of Cents out of tune, eventhough your singing them properly. Autotune can help adjust the tuning very slightly, so all the instruments match up.
I'm against the "t-pain" and the whole like, if you cant sing, autotune can help. and also, they shouldnt be used in a live setting, thats cheating.
That's why I listen to metal...Power-metal.I love real singing.

Sadly that is getting infected to. Mastodon is already using it and it is getting closer and closer to Power-metal....the end is nigh when we get O Fortuna...
It doesn't really bother me and it depends on who is using it. IE: I can listen to DP for hours but if it's Lil Wayne, not so much.
It is horrible, and I kinda find it as an insult to actual talent in music. That is why I don't like most rap or hip hop these days.
[QUOTE="Darth-Caedus"]Yes...the only band that can really pull of robotic vocals is Cynic.:P aaronmullanI forgot about Cynic. They're quite a good band. Yeah, but the vocorder effects are a bit different than the autotune, although it still sounds robotic and artificial.
Mike Portnoy and James La Brie from dream theater use it in some songs, but they still sound like themselvesYES! That's why metal is the way ;)

I dont like it when they use the same effect over and over again, at the end they all end up souding the same, while some of them have actually devent voices
