I call for a ban on all religious threads.

The amount of religion topics has hit a peak this week, but people tend to get tired of it. Soon enough we'll be back to politics-, race- and girl-threads... like if that's a good thing.

No need for a ban, we have been discussing a sticky but that wouldn't be a perfect solution either >_>

I'm pretty sure there are enough topics on religion, politics, and other random world conflicts to warrant a board. Nobody has successfully refuted my idea yet. I really think it would benefit OT.

Just because you do not like them or think that they should have thier own board , does not make it a good idea. What about movies and tv , then music. If you take away certain stuff , then it just leads to more stuff being taken away and making OT boring.

I love how you guys put words in my mouth. I never said I didn't like those types of threads. I do post in them occasionally, but I think OT is too cluttered with topics on those subjects its nausiating at times. Still awaiting someone to successfully refute my idea.

At least those threads are off topic. There's enough non-repetitve off topic threads that OT would survive. For god's sake, you guys are acting if we get another board, OT would die. Umm, no. It'd be a lot more streamlined and non-congested. I don't see how that is a bad thing.

If they would never come back, it must obviously mean that they wouldn't enjoy laid back conversation, which would make it easier for them not to have to go through"filler" threads in order to find a juicy debating thread. And it might help them with all the complaints.

Maybe, yeah. :? It would be a much less serious and much more laid back environment here than angst-filled debating threads. If people wanted to chill out and relax during the day, they can come to OT. If they want thoughtful, interesting threads to have debates in, they can go to a more serious board.

The user can decide what they want to talk about, if they go to a more serious board and want to talk seriously, or if they want to talk about so-called pointless "Pepsi vs. Coke" threads.

It's not hard at all, but it would be like if all the video game system boards were mixed... It wouldn't be hard to ignore threads that were about systems you didn't have but it wouldn't be convenient to have them all in one board. By the sound of it, you don't even like all the pointless threads, which is what most of OT is... From what I can see, it would only benefit you, so that you can have your serious threads and you can leave all the "Coke vs. Pepsi" threads behind.

Perhaps we should remove movie, tv, music etc as well to a different forum. Then all ten posters left in OT can debate soft drinks.:lol:

i would like to see you truly express freedom of speech on gamespot.

Would all be fine if it was a free for all which generated interest for lots of members, but the point is it's usually just two people with irrecincilable beliefs trying to outsmart each other. Sad to see them always cluttering the top few threads. I think a sub-forums a good idea.jimmyjammer69

Sure, a few users will only remain in one board, but the majority will go back and forth, just like everyone on Gamespot does when they want to go to a different board. As for your "soft drink" theory, debating is a much more different tone and flavor of thread than lightly discussing soft drinks and TV shows and movies and the like.

I find it hard to believe that with your post count, you've never ever switched between boards. Not only because of how much time you spend here, but also because of how easy it is. And I like variety at OT too, although there's a significant amount of threads that are a lot less laid back than most of threads that would go here. I noticed that on my very first day here. "Pointless thread, pointless thread, pointless thread... Oh look, an angsty thread about Jesus! That sticks out like a sore thumb."

And I believe OT would slow down slightly if there were less debating threads. Just slightly though. I don't think it would die, that's just being dramatic. This same thing happened to a forum I used to go to and it worked out perfectly. The Miscellaneous board still remained active, and the new Mature board spurred up activity. And it even attracted more users to the board. And finally, I don't wish to banish them from OT... Again, that's being dramatic. They would still have the very easy option of making one extra mouse click to come visit OT.
