Not all of us. Stereotyping FTL.

You're a social conservative?

Damn I guess that explains why you're a dumbass

You're a liberal?

That must mean you want equal rights for everyone, including those weirdos that want to **** their dogs.

Also, all Christians are extremists, because WBC is comprised of Christians.

ITT: People generalizing because they dont understand that not all conservatives disapprove of Gay marriage.

Both republicans and democrats have huge double-standards in their policies.

Republicans are all for limited, local government until you get into issues like marriage or abortion.

Democrat 'progressives' are all for individual freedom unless it interferes with their government mandate.

In what way does that make me a dumbass?

Also, there is no reason to insult community members like that. Please try to act like an adult.

I already posted in this thread why social conservatism is terrible. Please read the thread before posting.

I wonder how Americans would feel about having more than 2 parties in congress, all with more or less the same shot at winning the elections.

Uh huh. A "joke".

you still didn't explain how my previous statements are wrong, especially the bit about social conservatism never doing anything positive for mankind. What has it done?

Social conservatives are only conservative on social issues, and conservatives on social and fiscal issues.

There is nothing to understand. We are talking about social conservatives here. Their very nature is a paradox.

I think we got off topic, I was just pointing out the paradox where they hold marriage up so high and say homosexuals getting married will ruin it, or that it's against their religion, but then they get divorced more often than liberals, knowing that divorce is a sin.

Yes gerg, social conservatives are stupid.

Social conservatives being stupid is the rule, stupid social liberals are the exception.

I guess the point is in order to hold social conservative views you have either be stupid or evil.

While I hold a lot of conservative political views, I have no problem with gay marriage because it does not affect me or anyone I care about in any way whatsoever.

What if your son was gay?

I actually have 2 sons of my own, but they're both way too young to even know what they're into. I know that a lot of people have trouble acknowledging the fact that some people are gay and can't help it, but that's just a fact of life. While I'd be disappointed in not having grandkids, I'd be supportive of whoever makes him happy.

Again, not all of them. You too seem to be seeing things very narrow-mindedly and eager to paint numerous people with a single brush.

Neither do I. As someone who is socially conservative I am not a fan of the idea of the state regulating such relationships between people.

Soooo, what exactly do you mean by "social conservative?"

Simply that I am a fan of things like persona responsibility and liberties and wish to see as little government interference with our lives as is reasonably possible.

In most of the world they just use the term 'liberal' because that means center or center-right. However, in the United States the so called 'progressive' democrats (far-left) hijacked the term 'liberal', and therefore the term 'classical liberal' is used.

In the U.S. the so called 'progressives' are socialists. And they erroneously use the term 'liberal' to describe themselves.

They need to look up the political definition of 'liberal'.
