It didnt need to melt it. It is true, steel melts at a temperature well over 1000, and jet fuel burns in the 800s. But what is not brought up is that steel loses 50% of its strength in the 600s. Once it starts collapsing, it just keeps on going.

The only thing I find incredible in that site is the jet fuel thing. Jet fuel burns at 536K NOT 800K. Even eiht combustibles that's not possible. Let's say it reached 800K which it didn't. The temperature it takes for steel to even weaken is 1100K.
The only assumption I can make is that the steel was weaken by a small percentage and then it created a domino effect because of the weight. A bomb by the firefighters isn't just right.
