You say there is no God. But what if there is? You're taking a big chance by saying there is no God.
What if when you die you find out there is a God? Now you burn in Hell for all eternity!!!

What if it is the other way round, you're getting your hopes up for nothing.
...Think about it. Why would a benevolent god make a good person burn in hell for all eternity, along with rapists, mass murderers, serial killers, etc, all because I didn't believe in him?
Besides, if you believe in god out of fear...well...you better hope he doesn't exist, else I'll see you in hell.
[QUOTE="CptJSparrow"]You are taking a big chance in not believing in Zeus. "We are all atheists with respect to most of the gods humans have worshiped; some of us just go one god further." ~ Richard Dawkinseo12601
That's an awesome quote!
Of course it's an awesome quote, it's an awesome book. "The God Delusion" Richard Dawkins is like the Micheal Moore of religion.

So hes a liar and a fraud? That's not a very nice thing to say. . .
One of the major reasons that I am athiest is because people can tell you that you will burn in hell because you said something against the bible.
I think it's wrong and I have the right to believe what I want.

You know if the Jews or Muslims are right, they'll burn in hell as well.

Yeah, exactly.
There are so many religions that conflict with eachother, it's ridiculous.
I think I will be athiest, thank you very much. :)
As long as you put it that way, I better start believing in Santa Claus. Who knows how many presents I've missed out on by not believing in him.firebird23
Hmmm. That would explain all the coal in my socks. . .

He's.... not real?
I'm sorry I had to be the one to break it to you, buddy. You'll reach acceptance soon. It'll all be alright.pascals wager is not a valid argument. Richard Dawkins completely dismantles this argument in his book The God Delusion. There are 2 problems with this line of argument.
the 1st problem is that this assumes that your god is the only god which exists if any gods do indeed exist
the second problem is that you're promoting the judeo-christian God which by definition is omniscient. You cannot choose to believe something and if you said you did, then God with his omniscience will be able to see past your deception. I could sware on top of a stack of bibles and say that I believe every word written within these texts, but not truly believe it, and because I do not truly believe this religion, then I will still be suffer shame forever in Hell.
I like to think that I've led a virtuous life. If that's not enough and God turns out to be real, then I'll go to hell.SmashBrosLegendOnly a very specific type of God would send people to hell for not believing in Him.

Yeah, and the snake got off with a colloquial "slap on the wrist" lame.
because we have at some point in our lives been less than perfect. notconspiracyThat's not necessarily true depending upon one's definition of perfection, and even if it is, it seems a rather weak reason to send someone to eternal suffering.

we have at some point in our lives fallen below God's standard of perfection. therefore we are sinful, and thus cannot be allowed into God's perfect kingdom because we are sinful.
First off, though I'm not a religious person, I'm pretty sure your god doesn't want you believing out of fear. Second, what makes you more right than any other religion that's ever existed? In reality you take a big chance with Zeus and the Asian gods by not believing in them. I just choose not to follow anything, and if there is one, ah well, I was wrong, but I'm a good, honest person who does a lot of charity, so if he's up there, let's hope he's forgiving.
I mean, I wouldn't feel insulted if someone said I don't exist, I'd just think that their reaction is kind of funny when it turns out I do.

bull. Only God is perfect, and only then because we call him God. A lack of perfection is absolutely no reason to punish anyone.LOL @ christians who say atheists dont existFirst off, though I'm not a religious person, I'm pretty sure your god doesn't want you believing out of fear. This is the main reason that I consider myself to be agnostic. Basically I'm an atheist, but deeming myself as "agnostic" makes it a little easier on my family since they're all extremely religious. I have brought this up countless times that there are so many religions out there, how can they be 100% positive that theirs is the right one?

second, if you want to be free of your sins, then you have to accept the saving grace of Jesus' blood shed on the cross

So, for not being perfect, we're doomed to eternal unimaginable torment? And even if we're not perfect, we can be perfected by people who supposedly do lead perfect lives. What of those priests who were molesting children. Is everyone who was absolved by them now doomed because they weren't really absolved. (I admit I don't know too much about the church (but I have been doing some research), so what I just said might be incredibly wrong, so sorry in advance if it is).
Also, are you telling us that you are in fact perfect?
How precisely could we be perfect? Perfection is 100% subjective.but it is a reason to not allow them into your perfect kingdom.

But when you ask God for forgiveness of any sins, God gives us a second chance to eveyone. Even if Hitler prayed to God before he died and he said "God , I know I've done terrible things, but will forgive me for the horrible things I've done?" God would forgive all his sins and he would be in Paradise right after he died.Squier-Fender
I see only one flaw. He commited suicide.
