Because you were not created FOR A REASON! If you came as a result of something non intellgent you couldn't of had thought put into you, when being made.
Meaning you had no purpose.
Like when a human creates something, like a story. They put thoughts, ideas and feelings into the characters to give them life.

I'm an atheist for two reasons.
1- I dislike what religions stand for
2- I have no reason to believe there's a god
Facing reality is better than false hope. If you prefer false hope then be my guest.
I believe in God because for me, a creative force is a logical necessity. My logic tells me that an orderly, ingenius system of life cannot come a chaotic explotion with no intelligent energy behind it. Because of this, my God is as scientific and natural as the dirt you study in school. Except He is the foundation, the platform off which the reality we percieve is based. He's everything; He is reality.

1-its not because you claim something to be logical that is is.
2-theres no causality between your beliefs (see #1) and your statements (my God.....) : aka, its because you say that you think your beliefs are logical that it means that your God is rationa.
3- Trying to prove, with rationality, God, is absolutely useless. Why? Because religions are based on faith, thus, they cannot be proved in their beliefs, one doesnt rationally think through religion, he believes. HUGE difference.
I rest my case.

You rest your case, eh? You're obviously arguing against yourself. I never tried to prove my beliefs, and I agree that belief is based on faith. My personal prove is just that, on the personal level. I can't use that to prove God to you because you wouldn't believe me- it's something you must find proof for yourself.[QUOTE="elmo90"]He's everything; He is reality.

Then why do you call everything god? Just call it nature and become an atheist!
Because atheism claims that nature (unintelligence, nothingness) is the source of order, life, and substance. I simply don't see how two rocks can make fire on their own. If there is a god... then why does he let people drive other people to suicide...? I don't think a wealthy successful business man with a wonderful family and everything to live for would jump off a cliff... but someone who has been made fun of their entire life and has no friends is driven to this by those around them... why would a god let them be lead to this...? Why does god let people murder each other...? Why do children who haven't even had a chance to live their life die of cancer? This is why I doubt a god...

Yes, people make their own purpose in life. Just as you make your faith in God your own purpose. There doesn't have to be a God for someone to have purpose in their life. Some people are content enough just to experience life. Even if God did exist, you don't have to find purpose in Him (since you have free will), you choose to.
Who said we are an accident?
If you're referring to the fact that Atheists follow Science, i.e. Evolution and Abiogenesis and the like, neither of those say that we are an accident. In fact, they would state the very opposite as we were formed from natural processes. Neither chemistry nor biological processes happen 'accidentally'. They are uniform and predictable (within our reasoning).
You assume that no purposeful creation = accident, which doesn't equate. Unintentional, natural processes would then mean no purpose in living? Perhaps our purpose is just to follow the laws of nature and within following these laws (to live, reproduce and die), we can make our own meaning. What's to stop us?
You say there is no God. But what if there is? You're taking a big chance by saying there is no God.

What if you're supposed to believe in a different god? You're the one who's gonna burn in hell now. I will too of course, but how am I supposed to choose which god to believe in?
I take this into consideration... I believe in a higher power... but I don't follow a religion... I am what is known as... an "Agnostic"Squeets
If you believe in a higher power you aren't agnostic, you just don't follow a specific religion.

I never said abiogenesis or Evolution were an accident. God could of guided them. You miss my main point, which has nothing to do with creation or abiogenisis, big bang and etc.
if we were not designed for a specific meaning, goal or purpose.
We can have no meaning, because we werent designed to do anything. We came as a result of Nothing basically. Or something with no with no intent given to us.
If such thing were true, we can only make our own meaning and not have an overall meaning.

Actually whether or not there is a god, the main purpose of humans and all living things for that matter, is to live long enough and to reproduce, passing on your genes to the next generation. As for the purpose I think you're speaking of, it's up to each individual to discover his or her own purpose(s). Everyone has their own aspirations and goals in life, inspired through various interests and influences (religious and non-religious). I am a 3d artist and I hope to get into the game industry. That's my career goal and my purpose. Certainly no god or religious or after life has any influence on that.
Sin is man made. Period. Religion is man made. Period.
Did you guys hear that the catholic religion just added a new sin in their books to adjust to 'the modern world'? Something related to the economy and politics. This whole concept in absurd. If there is a God, there can only be one God. That's a big IF. Religion is just something of a security to man ' there is hope, there is a higher order taking care of us after we die, bla bla bla.' . If we're strong we don't need a religion to disillusion ourselves.
Think of how believes are brought to this world and brainwashing some of us, like how 'believes' are taught in the middle east and brainwashing them poor suicide bombers. These believes are just introduced to the world by some guy. We can choose to worship to believe or THINK about it.

Thats not legitimate becuase you don't understand the first thing about natural selection and the theory that evolutionists and big-bang theorists follow. It involves no chance whatsoever. By the fact that time does not ever stop, it is 'fated' for lack of a better word.
It has to happen.

Didn't god banish him to hell for all eternity or something to that effect?
God: "You didn't belive in me so ya, go to hell."
So I think I'd go to hell then, what more could I do. Besides, I wouldn't be the only one, my friends and people I love would be there. I'd better go to hell with my family and friends than hang out alone in the heaven with all those holy people going: "Wohoo, I win!"
