every time I see the people in those seminar things (?) saying how the water worked for them, I just think about how half of them could have just as easily gotten off their asses and done something and gotten a result a lot quicker, no praying and sending away for water needed.

I wonder what the mechanism for getting people to send them money is.StopThePresses

Look no further.

Basically he sends you the packet and then he spams the hell out of your mailbox begging for donations.

Not only $23 million, but $23 million after he had already been exposed as a fraud.

Seriously.

...how about respect other peoples beliefs instead of calling them stupid...also..

The reason for the crusades was a war between Christians and Moslems which centered around the city of Jerusalem. The City of Jerusalem held a Holy significance to the Christian religion. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem commemorated the hill of crucifixion and the tomb of Christ's burial and was visited by Pilgrims. In 1065 Jerusalem was taken by the Turks and 3000 Christians were massacred starting a chain of events which contributed to the cause of the crusades.

..... Where did I say people who are Christian or what not were all stupid? This doesn't some how change the fact that people will be duped in by ignorance.. Do you honestly think they did it in retailiation the crusaders? They were told by the Pope that killing a heretic was the path to heaven and that this was god's command.. Christians or any amount of faith or ideas all have these problems.. It just doesn't have to stop with religion, hell the red scare of the 1950s were evidence of this.. As it stands there will always be people getting dupped by another intil the end of time.

.. lets go see.. If there was opposition and you were a peasent.. You would be execommunicated and killed.. Furthermore why would you do such a thing? Becaus ethe printing press would be controlled by the church and nobility.. So if you could be reading you would be reading the things they want to print.. It was worse then because questions were not allowed and peasents basically fully believed what their clergymen and the church said.

Oh Peter, it'll be so ironic when he burns in Hell.

The odd thing I find about this form of belief, is how people think God will provide them with material blessings and rewards if they maintain faith... despite the whole point of salvation, is to cement the eternal life of yourself and those around you.

The point is, religions will usually always have the most dupes.. YET again this is not suggesting that religion is wrong, full of ignorant or stupid people yadayada.. But religion especially during those times pretty much was a belief that could not be questioned nor have any real thought outside of the status quo.. It is a article of faith, that all too often when it comes to organized religion it is decided by a select few elite in charge.. Especially during those times..

[QUOTE="Snipes_2"]

[QUOTE="StopThePresses"] How far is the furthest Catholic church from where you live?theone86

Depends, I hit traffic sometimes :P Mainstream culture accepts teen pregnancy, pre-marital relationships (As in Going farther than just a date), Abortion, trying to get Gay Marriage in, Christianity is dropping in America in favor of Atheism, Pr0nz etc... Those are all contradictory to Catholicism.

Right, Catholicism only has 68 million followers in America and is the largest Christian denomination in the country, no way could that be considered remotely mainstream

If you set your position up as mutually exclusive then you will never be completely accepted. This country realizes a right for women to make their own moral decisions about abortion and for everyone else to make their own moral decisions about how they want to conduct their personal relationships. That's not a rejection of Catholicism, that's a belief in personal sovereignty.

How many of those are Practicing Catholics? And I wouldn't say it's mainstream in our societies culture. Like I pointed out in the other post. The Catholic Church believes Abortion is wrong, and it also believes those "Moral Choices" are wrong. The Church does not go by what Humans percieve as morally acceptable, it goes by Gods teachings and the path He set forth in regards to Morality.

Depends on what Religion you're talking about. ALL religions do not cause problems. And even then, not every follower of that Religion causes trouble. So, I wouldn't say Humanity. Some use it as an excuse, like this guy and the Miracle Water.

God at one point advised a bunch of soldiers to hide in bushes and kidnap young girls for their wives, unless they weren't virgins in which case they should be killed. In other words, i do not think Catholicism is rigidly based on any specific morality set forth by God. Heck, there are gay priests....

I hope you're not serious. That's quite a broad Generalization too by the way.

Of course I'm serious. Institutionalized religion has been responsible for some of the worst atrocities and scams committed in the history of humanity. I don't have a problem with people being spiritual or having beliefs but I have little sympathy for institutionalized religion. Institutionalized religion are those who hide the fact that adults representing their God are raping children while preaching about morals and against homosexuality in their free time. Excuse me but I choose not to like those kind of institutions.

It's true though..And I'm pretty religious myself..

It's moreso the people who follow the religion though, but still. It has caused many problems and still continues to make problems for this world.

Depends on what Religion you're talking about. ALL religions do not cause problems. And even then, not every follower of that Religion causes trouble. So, I wouldn't say Humanity. Some use it as an excuse, like this guy and the Miracle Water.

It doesn't matter if a religion doesn't cause problems now. All religions, especially the Abrahamic religions have a dark time in history that has left a major impact still affecting us today.

There is no such things as a good religion without a bad past, maybe with the exception of some of the Eastern religions (confusianism, taoism, buddhism).

You don't even need to look at the history books. Look at a picket line of protesters at the funeral of a gay person holding signs saying 'God hates you'. Religions can cause all kinds of problems.

I wonder if anybody just for the lulz has ordered like a million packets, seeing that they're free and that the only way he makes money off of them is through donations.

Heck, there are gay priests....

uh yeah..because people aren't perfect...

God at one point advised a bunch of soldiers to hide in bushes and kidnap young girls for their wives, unless they weren't virgins in which case they should be killed. In other words, i do not think Catholicism is rigidly based on any specific morality set forth by God. Heck, there are gay priests....

The Church doesn't condone the actions of Gay Priests. Blame the Gay Priests for their own actions. Link to God advising soldiers to hide and kidnap young girls and wives? As in God specifically telling them to do that.

I don't really see too many "Dark Pasts". Maybe a War or Two, happens even among the non religious. Just look at China and Russia.

You do know that that's not common and it's not accepted or condoned right? And you blame a whole Religion for the acts of one or two people?
