[QUOTE="taj7575"][QUOTE="Snipes_2"] Depends on what Religion you're talking about. ALL religions do not cause problems. And even then, not every follower of that Religion causes trouble. So, I wouldn't say Humanity. Some use it as an excuse, like this guy and the Miracle Water. Snipes_2
It doesn't matter if a religion doesn't cause problems now. All religions, especially the Abrahamic religions have a dark time in history that has left a major impact still affecting us today.
There is no such things as a good religion without a bad past, maybe with the exception of some of the Eastern religions (confusianism, taoism, buddhism).
I don't really see too many "Dark Pasts". Maybe a War or Two, happens even among the non religious. Just look at China and Russia. Many of the Russians even at the time of the Soviet Union were religious..During Stalin's regime, they used to pray in secret. And just look after the collapse of the soviet union. There were so many religious groups in the Soviet Union.
People in China still hold Confucious or Taoist beliefs. The eastern religions are a bit different than western.
And a war or two? What?! How about the Crusades? How about the conquests Christians and Muslims had to take over land? It's certainly not even close to a war or two..

I believe the Crusades were the Conquests Christians and Muslims had to take over land. Muslims took over Jerusalem, Christians took it back and Vice Versa. Why does it matter?[QUOTE="taj7575"][QUOTE="Snipes_2"] I don't really see too many "Dark Pasts". Maybe a War or Two, happens even among the non religious. Just look at China and Russia. Snipes_2

They were religious military campaigns through Europe, dealing with Christianity. Long story short, if you were a pagan, you were going to convert, or die.

Let's keep it in context people...
[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="Snipes_2"] You do know that that's not common and it's not accepted or condoned right? And you blame a whole Religion for the acts of one or two people?Snipes_2You do know that the Vatican hid the fact that a lot of their priests were doing stuff like that and kept them in their positions right? That means they don't care about what's morally accepted or Jesus' teachings, they care about power and that's why they waste their time on stupid things like curing homosexuality and preaching to Africans not to wear condoms while ignoring all the real problems the world has. Look for the Theology of Liberation for some real christians that actually want to do something relevant and important. No, There were already threads on this, and it was proven that the Vatican didn't hide it.
Proven by whom?

every time I see the people in those seminar things (?) saying how the water worked for them, I just think about how half of them could have just as easily gotten off their asses and done something and gotten a result a lot quicker, no praying and sending away for water needed.XilePrincessthat option if only available for people who WANT to get a real job.

Posting NyTimes is like me Posting Fox News. The Letter/Document was in Latin. The Priest was taken out after 2-5 Years after a thorough investigation was conducted. ""An additional 10 percent were defrocked immediately. Ten percent left voluntarily. The Fourth Crusade was the only one that strayed from around Jerusalem. They were blown off Course and Destroyed the Christian Byzantine Empire.[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="Snipes_2"] No, There were already threads on this, and it was proven that the Vatican didn't hide it. Snipes_2

""An additional 10 percent were defrocked immediately. Ten percent left voluntarily. But a majority - 60 percent - faced other "administrative and disciplinary provisions," " If you want to have any credibility left at least read the links I provided. The NY Times provide a huge amount of linked evidence so the least you could do is equally provide a challenge with evidence to what they say. The documents are in english and document pretty well the exchange between the Vatican and the US to deal with the matter so they "can avoid undue publicity that would be negative toward the Church" (last letter). The priest was kept in his position until his death and even a proper priest burial was given to him. From the 3000 cases reported only 20% went to investigation by the Vatican and only 60% of those had those had "administrative and disciplinary provisions". So I know that people with "faith" do anything to excuse the action of such a corrupt institution as the Catholic Church but at least have a little decency and ackowledge the fact that you have nothing to defend this. What kind of person believes in all the moral crap they spew while justifying such acts in the presense of so much evidence? I just can conclude that your religious convictions are as phony as the ones from your beloved institution if you are so quick to dismiss such disgusting actions to justify your point of view. I bet Jesus would be proud :roll:Please Log In to post.
