Napolean Dynamite was big. People were quoting it so much. I never got into and when I finally saw it not too long ago I was deely disappointed by it. One of the worst films ever. Nothing interesting in that movie.

Anyways, its still one of my favorite movies. It manages to be hilarious without all the filth thats all too common in movies these days. I think the lack of a plot or any real point at all added to the charm of the movie. Its up there on my list of favorite movies. In fact, its porbably my favorite comedy movie besides maybe Rush Hour.

I really couldn't find anything funny about anything going on being that everything was mostly boring as hell.

Well thinking about the movie it seems funny. But watching it is hard since it's so excuciatinlgly boring that it ruins what could have been funny.

In my humble opinion, Naploeon Dynamite is your best choice, however, I find your lack of Armgeddon to be disturbing.

Napolean Dynamite: It's extremely boring, apparently talking a mildly retarted voice makes a guy funny, no funny lines/scenes in it at all, I don't even know why this movie is even popular, apparently dancing like an idiot is funny to people? Horrible premise, horrible story, just an all-around extreme definition of an overrated film.

Never saw any of those except Napoleon. But I think spider-man 3 should be there big time.Proobie44

My thoughts exactly. I also like how the most over rated movies of all time are all from within a 10 year period.

I think that we are misusing the word overrated to describe these movies. Websters defines the word over, when used as a prefix to mean excessive or to an excessive degree. The word rated whenused in this context means to determine or assign the relative rank or class of.

Now of the movies you listed the only one I do believe that was overrated (by the media) was/is the Pirates Series. I'm not saying the other movie are good or bad, I'm merely saying there wasn't all the hype around them like any of the Pirates movies.

I would like to through my own title into this category and say The Blair Witch movie was completely over-rated. All the hype and the special on TV, before and/or during the launch was too much. The movie in my opinion was just OK at best.

Anchorman I can understand, since pretty much anything Will Ferrell does is overrated. Napoleon Dynamite I can understand, because I get why some people don't like it, but I do think it's genius. The Pirates of the Carribbean series is a big budgetted special effects blockbuster franchise with an amazing cast, but there are issues with the story telling, so I can understand this one too. Twister... well Hell, I didn't even know anyone cared about the movie.

The only choice I take offense to is Fight Club. The movie in my opinion deserved its fame, because it was probably the most original film I saw at that time. It had just about everything. Amazing shots, brutality, humor, storytelling, drama, action, MEATLOAF! It's just a damned good all around movie.

I only saw the first Pirates movie, and enjoyed it. Now that people are saying the last two weren't that great, I might not watch them unless they're on TV and nothing else is on.

However, I have to agree with Twister, although I don't think anyone considers it a classic. "Let's tie my belt to this flimsy pole, no F5 tornado will take us away!"

Gone with the Wind and Citizen Kane...There is your number one and two.Acenso

Citizen Kane is one of the greatest movies of all time, if not the greatest. While I don't like Gone With the Wind, it isn't overrated.

Persaonlly I loved Fight Club, and have many more overrated movies that would fit up there than that.

How about Jaws, a cheap movie I saw absolutely nothing in. Jarhead, another absolute crap movie. The one that takes the cake however is the Dumb and Dumber series.I know many people who swear by these movies, yet having watched the first 2, I didn't laugh at either even once.
