You're going to have to read the whole thing to gt a good idea of what has happened.
NOTE: This first post has important updates of what has been going on. Everything after the first long section was added later so everyone can keep up. There is important background information on my friend, including his name (Austin), in RED; you should scrool down and read it first. Everything is in the order of when I posted it. Any advice is appreciated. Check the first post once in a while to see if there are any updates Since the last one.

I'm really concerned about my friend. We went to see bourne ultimatum, and during the movie he went out. I thought it was kinda weird, so I decided to go out about a minute later since I had seen the movie once already. I saw him on the phone looking really upset, and when he saw me coming he just hung up really quick. He looked really sad and upset. I asked if anything was wrong and he said "nothing you can do anything about". Normally, he seems like an open book, but this is when he started acting really cryptic. A couple days later I went tohis appartmentto play super smash. He seemed really distracted. While we were playing he got another phone call (he had already taken one), and unlike last time, he went out of the room after looking at the caller ID. He went upstairs, and I couldn't hear them talking. What I did hear was much worse. I heard him scream like he was hurt, so I ran up, and he was on the floor. For a second I thought he was dead, then I saw him breathe heavily. I asked what happened, and he said "nothing". It was so weird. He didn't make up some explanation, he just said nothing. I asked how it could be nothing, and he just changed the subject, and said little else. I figured he was probably tired of me being there, so I sid I should leave, and he said "Please don't". He seemed almost scared, which is very unlike him. The whole week that all this happened, he was unlike himself. I staed like he asked, and after a while I worked up the nerve to ask him if he was on drugs, and he said no. I believe him, but I really wished he would tell me whats going on. When I went to work just4 days later (after not working the last 2), I noticed he wasn't there. We both work at Starbuck's. I was pretty sure he was supposed to work that day, so I asked my boss about it, and he said he was supposed to show up this day and the day before, but he never did. I was very worried. He said he had called my friends house and he didn't answer. I called his cell and home on my lunch brake, and I got no answer. I really need to know what's going on. I was thinking about calling the police, but I'm not sure what they could do...or what I should tell them. What do you think I should do? What do you think is up with my friend?

EDIT: A lot of people didn't see what I had posted in this thread earlier, so I'll post it here.
Big update. I called the person next door to my friend, whom my friend wasfairly good friends with, and asked him if he has heard anything about my friend. He said he noticed he had been acting really weird, and he had recently gone into his room, and my friend wasn't there. I asked how he got in, and he said my friend had given it to him for emergencies. I was glad to hear he wasn't dead in his appartment, but it looks like he is officially missing in action.

NOTE: I posted the following a day after I made the first post. Quite a bit has happened since then, and it seems like it's getting worse as I find out more little bits at a time.
Huge update here. It's the next day now, and early this morning I got a call from him. He said he's safe, and i shouldn't be trying to find him, because "I may accidently lead the unwanted" to him. I asked if it wasthe police he was talking about, and he said no. I asked him if it was a medical, drug, or money problem, and he said he can't say anything more right now. I'm glad to hear he's okay, but I'm still worried.

He is addicted to drugs and he was really high the time he fell. That would explain the falling and being scared. Now if that is ture he probably cannot pay off all of the drugs he has bought and is running from the dealers that want to kill him for not paying up.
Just throwing out a theory.

That does seem to be the most obvious thing, but I want to believe him. Still, I'm tired of sitting here on my computer whne my friend might be in danger. I'm going to go to his neighbor, and use his key and go look around in his room. If he was on drugs, there may be some there. I need to do this before the police come...

It might be awhile before I post again. I really need to check his room. Hopefully his neighbor is there.

NOTE: I posted this over an hour after my last post, when I got back from checking his room.
I'm back. Like I said I was going to do, I went to his neighbor and asked if we could look around in my friends room, using the key that the guy had. It was kinda weird. He seemed hessitant at first when I asked him, even though he knew we were very good friends. We went in and looked around. We didn't find any traces of drugs, or huge stacks of money. It was really messy though. Clothes were on the floor and the couch cushions seemed kinda loose. Maybe I was looking too hard, but it really seemed like it had already been searched through. It could have just been my friend, but it may be that someone was already there before us. I can't stand it. I feel like there is more I should do, but i don't know what I could do.

has he ever acted a little suspicious before? I don't mean like the way he is now, but just a little suspicious? Or maybe there's a reason his parents and him aren't close? Have you ever asked him about that?
k_smoove
I never thought of him as suspicious.Maybe some background info is in order now. His name is Austin, and we both live in Minnesota. Anyway, heis a pretty normal guy. We both like video games a lot. He was way smarter than I am though. i'm not saying I'm stupid, but he was realy smart. He liked to study things I didn't care about. Hetold me he was even writing a non-fiction book. It was something about traffic laws or something.I think he was planning on having it published soon. Anyway, I think he was too smart to be invloved with gambling or drugs. I just don't get anything about what's going on...

get back in and check his phone, cell phone, computer, answering machine. Look for anything weird, unknown calls in middle of night, ect. Right down all numbers found w/ name if their. Check Email, web history. Also, check book, check for huge withdrawals/ check stubs. Look in wallet. think on our feet once ur their, look for things out of place, also check his trash. Best to where gloves, so you don't leave prints, mess any up. another good thing, lean a coin against his door when u leave, come back and see if its moved/ feel over(don't trip it when u walk in) or something like that, so you know if anyone comes back. Look for out of the ordinary things!!!shadowflume
I think you're right. I've been thinking, if anything is going to happen, it will happen at his place. I'm gonna pack up and stay there for a while until this mess is straitened out. I completely forgot about the computer. I'll need to check his desktop out. I can keep you all updated from there. The morepeople thinking about this, the better. I do tend to miss the obvious sometimes.

Well, I'm in Austin's house. A lot has happened in this short time. I told his neighbor I wanted to camp out in his place, and the neighbor kept asking why. When I asked if he had anything to do with this, he said no and finally gave me the key. I went in and went right to his computer, where I am now. It confirmed it: someone was already here before. Everything on his desktop was erased. I have no idea how that is done, but someone did it. Even a lot of his disks are gone. I know he kept backup copies of stuff he's written on disks. So, I didn't find anything on his computer, but I did find his parent's number on the refridgerater. I called it, and his mom answered. I told her everytihng. She seemed more upset than worried, and she also sounded likek she may have been drunk. The only thing she was able to tell me was that he does did suffer from epilepsy when he was younger, and he did get siezures then, but he had been over it for a long time. She said the last time he had a siezure was when hewas startledby his mom coming into his room one night when he was 16. She said the only way she thought he could have a siezure is if he was seriously scared or startled by something. That would explain why he was on the floor! Someone said something that really startled him.
Now I'm thinking I have to talk to his neighbor. He didn't want me to come in. He knows something. Do you think it would be a bad idea?
