I was actually worried for that girl till I got to the end :P
Dude you still have not told us if you called the police or not. If you haven't why not?
Does anyone think that a bear will try to eat him while he is over there? :?
if he isnt coming to work and not at his house then file a missing person report with the police, then can help
FLSTS
yeah if he's just diappeared then something could have happened to him... its probably time to contct the police.

Well, I'm inAustin's house. A lot has happened in this short time. I told his neighbor I wanted to camp out in his place, and the neighbor kept asking why. When I asked if he had anything to do with this, he said no and finally gave me the key. I went in and went right to his computer, where I am now. It confirmed it: someone was already here before. Everything on his desktop was erased. I have no idea how that is done, but someone did it. Even a lot of his disks are gone. I know he kept backup copies of stuff he's written on disks. So, I didn't find anything on his computer, but I did find his parent's number on the refridgerater. I called it, and his mom answered. I told her everytihng. She seemed more upset than worried, and she also sounded likek she may have been drunk. The only thing she was able to tell me was that he does did suffer from epilepsy when he was younger, and he did get siezures then, but he had been over it for a long time. She said the last time he had a siezure was when hewas startledby his mom coming into his room one night when he was 16. She said the only way she thought he could have a siezure is if he was seriously scared or startled by something. That would explain why he was on the floor! Someone said something that really startled him.
Now I'm thinking I have to talk to his neighbor. He didn't want me to come in. He knows something. Do you think it would be a bad idea?

Oh my bad, must have missed that one.

Depends. What do you plan on asking the neighbour? If he is in on it he will probably want to get you next because you suspect something is going on. Be careful. If you plan on confronting the neighbour, get out of Austin's house right away imo.
I haven't seen the movie, but maybe a scene affected him in some sort of way?lazlofan098
As funny as that may b, I really don't think that now is the right time to say that.
What you've done so far could get you in trouble for breaking and entering and similar charges, so I would contact the police and leave it at that. You haven't done the right thing so far, the police should have been the first thing you do: A missing person's report, potential kidnapping. Snooping in his apartment seems smart, but unless you had taken the real precautions of doing so, it likely was not a good choice. Contact his family if you can, that should also have been a first or second thought: You don't really have to tell them anything, just be coy and ask leading questions.YourOldFriend
only if the friend press charges
Im sorry i really doubt this is true, as much od a friend the neighbor is why would he have a key to his room, im sorry thats pushin it for meelmetfano
Maybe the neighbour likes to pop in from time to time. I probably would give the keys to my apartment to my close friends.
*waits for the bear*
I know there is gonna be a bear in this one......
TC, where do you live in Minnesota?
This is it. I finally know what's going on. I went to his neighbor and demanded to know what he knew. He told me he couldn't. That was enough for me to know that he did know something. I threatened to "do something drastic" if he didn't say anything. He was quiet, and then said "I told my professor about the book." I asked if he was talking about the book about traffic laws, and he said yes. He said that the professor was a writer himself. Apparently, Austin's neighbor knew more about the book than I did, and even had a copy of it. I guess it sounded interesting enough to the professor to ask the neighbor to let him see the copy. The neighbor confessed that the professor payed him to tell him where Austin lived, and to tell him of any way inside the house. He gave the professor his key, so he could make a copy. Apparently, he didn't ransack the place until over a week later. Before that was when he was acting weird, made the phone call at the theatre, and took that prviate phone call. I had to figure out why he was getting calls. I decidedI would try e-mailing my friend. I hoped he had a laptop i didn't know about. I asked him to tell me everything, and that's exactly what he did when he replied onlyabout40 minutes after i sent it.
NOTE: He does use his neighbor's name: Zack. He used the professor's last name (I gave it to him), which I've hidden.
Here's his reply (copied and pasted):
"I'm sorry you had to get involved with this. The call I made at the theatre was just to my parents. I wanted to make sure they were okay. The mysterious phone calls started about a week ago. First, a voice said that I needed to destroy all record of the book I'm writing, or something bad would happen. I told him i would. He called later, and I said I did erase everything, but i didn't. I didn't think he'd have any way of knowing, but he did. He had already hacked into my computer and erased everything, and said he had cameras everywhere, and he knew I had more on disks. He said I'd better destroy them. The next time he called was when you were there. This time he said he would make sure everyone in my family would die. Just hearing this freaked me out, and a had a very small seizure." I didn't tell you any of this, becauseI was afraid they would get you involved. He seemed to know so much. I didn't believe he had camera's, but he knew what was on my computer. If what you say about Zack is true, he problably put some device on my computer to allow proffessor ****** to hack into it. It's possible the phones may have even been tapped. Anyway,I knewI wasn't safe. I got out of there and went to a hotel. I guess they broke into my room shortly after that to look for the disks.I took 1 with me. I spent 5 years working on that book, and i wasn't about to give it up now. I finally decided to call you even though I knew it might not be safe. I couldn't have you getting involved. I had to tell you I was safe. Anyway, I think everything will turn out fine. I talked to a proffessor friend of mine at the college, and he said he could help me make enough of a case against proffessor ****** to bring him down. The police are involved and hopefully he has been arrested already. Anyway, I want to thank you for your help. You may have saved everything. I'll be coming back soon.
p.s. After all this is over, maybe we should go hunting again. Hopefully we won't run into that bear again!
I dont get the ending, quick summary plz, or someone explain to me :Pelmetfano
The last part was the email from Alex. Basically, the professor saw Austin's book (mentioned earlier), and wanted to submit it for publication himself. He obviously knew a big seller when he saw one. Does that sound liek a accurate summary?

Thought so, but is that it? i kno the bear is just a throw in at the end
I knew it. It was predictable, but you wouldnt be a bad story writer my friend :wink:Melfencik
yea when he phoned you it started to get a bit unbelievable but its a good yarn all the same
Yeah. But wow, this is the longest right? 10 pages. Quite impressive.
Honestly, get out of it right now. You might be meddling in something that could be bigger than just trying to help with your friend. You don't want to be a suspect for murder (especially because he mysteriously goes missing, and now your in his house....) or get in with the same crowd he is...
...Ok after reading your ending I think that you made the entire thing up. That's....just wrong.
WTF so the Professor did all this for a book about traffic laws? I am thinking this is fakeslip_killer
It's not so far fetched. I just said it was something about traffic laws, but it was really a lot more. A book with years of research in it could bring in millions for the author if it was published. The professor knew that it would be a big seller because he has had experience with writing and publishing before. But yes, this entire thing was just fiction.

Fooled again, why does this always happens to me?! :cry:heh, it was good but you lacked more characters. u need red herrings, see ;)Self_indulgence
Oh I normally would. i made this up as I went along, and not everyone would read everything, and making more characters would mean more reading. If i was writing a real story, i would have more characters and red herrings.
wow, you got me, I kinda thought it was fiction, but I didn't think someone would go through so much trouble to write this kinda stuff.k_smoove
Well, i think it's fun to write stuff. This wasn't anything big. it would be better if i actually planned the story first. I just made it up as I went along, but I think that is part of the fun. I wasn't expecting to do much more than the first post. That's whyI didn't give any names at first. I just had to reply to people, and eventually I started developing a little story. It was worth it if it brought a small amount of excitement to an otherwise useless forum :).
