So apparently, there was a convoy of some sort that continued to advance but wasn't "hostile" along with other troops. So I guess the war isn't over...LikeHaterade
There are 50 Russian armored vehicles underway towards the Georgian capital. I wonder what's up with that. There have been reports that they briefly stopped at the city of Gori. There they stole some supplies and some vehicles from the civilian population, before they moved out towards the capital.

There was an UPDATE: Russian troops turned off the road that headed for the capital. They were on the road that headed towards it and turned off. So apparently, the Russians are trying to create a "demilitarized zone?"

50 vehricals dosn't seem like a full invasion force, possibly security forces for talks or somin more specific than a straight invasion
Wow this is really suspicious. Didn't yesterday they said "Vee haave Puunished Georgians Enuf!" now there gonna keep pushing towards Tbilisli:?honkyjoe
If it was an attack they would've attacked with more than merely 50 tanks. They would've bombed the crap out of the remaining Georgian military forces before sending in their tanks but no bombing has been going on. And don't forget that you never send in so many tanks without a whole lot more infantry into a city. This small Russian tank force is probably send in to screen the remaining Georgian military forces who are bunched up around the Georgian capital. Don't forget that Russia said that recon missions would continue. Screening of military forces can be considered recon and 50 tanks can be considered a small force, barely enough to cover a big area like the Georgian capital and the outskirts of that area.
i think it may be a low profile attack b/c of concerns of the international communityfreshgman
50 tanks moving down the main road towards the capital, spotted by countless observers, is a low profile attack?

I don't think you create a DMZ so deep inside the enemy territory. It needs to be in an area where all parties can agree with that it will be military neutral ground. If you create it so deep inside enemy territory, than obviously your enemy won't agree with it because that's his territory that you'll be sitting on, guarding the border that runs straight through the middle of his country. The border needs to be on the border, not in the middle of the country.
I have no idea what this whole invasion is, my question is, is it Georgia the country or Georgia the statemomo372
Russia is invading your country! ARM YOURSELF, QUICK!

Actually guys, if you heard the story properly, Georgia said RUssian tanks were advancing on their territory but theyw ere infact GEORGIAN tanks!!! The Russians proved it by taking pictures of them and the Gorgians admit it.argetlam00
Hmmm. looks like Georgia is trying to get us into a war, how quaint. George Bush will be making a statement in an hour. Apparently, the continued looting and bombarding were irregularities in the Russian army. Wow.....

Actually thats kind of exactly what Georgia wants. You see, their isn't really a win situation for Russia in this war. They know that NOBODY will ever let them occupy Georgia. It will never happen and Russia knows that. NATO would rather die then let Russia get away with something like that. However, Georgia has been having territorial problems in South Ossetia, and its application to NATO is at stake. Right now, even if it losses and SO goes to Russia, Georgia says we have no more problems and the big Russians are bullying us!! HELP!! Then they join Nato. If they win, they TAKE South Ossetia and solve their territorial problem anyway, allowing them to join. For Russia, there is really no win situation other then at least getting some land.
The statement is supposed to be about humanitary relief that the U.S. will be sending over to Georgia and apparently, there was some kind of Navy training exercise that the US was going to practice with Russia, and Bush wants to end it to show the Russians that the US did not like what they did.LikeHaterade
I bet the US doesn't like what Russia did, but I kind of think they had no choice IMO. They were put into a corner with very difficult decision to make. Its either let Georgia destroy all of their citizens in SO and then have Georgia rewarded with a NATO membership, or at least punish them for the attack while they can. Never heard of a Navy trainning exercice but I thought that Russia has been doing military training with mainly China and India? Never knew they actually got along with the US that well..

Well I don't agree, if Russia occupies Georgia no body can really stop them, why would NATO risk an all out nuclear WW3 for Georgia, who is the aggressor btw. All this is superpower politics and show off contests, one condemns the other but can't really do anything else.[QUOTE="argetlam00"][QUOTE="LikeHaterade"][QUOTE="argetlam00"]Actually guys, if you heard the story properly, Georgia said RUssian tanks were advancing on their territory but theyw ere infact GEORGIAN tanks!!! All this is superpower politics and show off contests, one condemns the other but can't really do anything else.Because NATO already vowed not to back down in face of Russian agression. NATO agreed to allow Russia to resolve the issue because it was Georgia who atttacked first. I can tell you now, that if RUssia attacked Goergia, Nato would send troops there immediately. There won't be nucleur war for a little firefight. If Russia occupied Georgia, the world will be pissed beyond belief. Russia would lose ALOT of respect in the world and the many things it has gained as a democracy. Its small friendship with US would be flushed down the toilet. They may also be kicked out of the G8...Russia values its status in the world much more than taking Georgia.
Guys..they weren't gonna stop until they get a puppet govt in place.....next stop...Ukraine.....Omni-Slash
They already stopped and didn't conquer Georgia, which proved my point entirelly. There is NO win situation for Russia in this war...
I think Russia means to conquer Georgia. Anything that have happened was just an excuse to go into another country. Bush Regime did the same thing Iraq and Afghanstan.Jd1680a
Yeah, Russia halting military action in Georgia is definately them meaning to conquer Georgia  The Bush administraton actually INSTALLED a puppet government in Afghanistan and Iraq, so that claim actually kind of makes sense for them.
you may want to start watching some news......reports of tanks still rolling deeper nto Georgia.... :|They already stopped and didn't conquer Georgia, which proved my point entirelly. There is NO win situation for Russia in this war...

If you watched more recent news the Russians actually proved that the tanks were not theirs but actually Georgian. The Russians pulled out when they said they did.

You may want to check how reliable your sources are because it's pretty much a fact that those tanks aren't there to cause more war.

Are they saying that Russia is sending 50 tanks to attack Georgia? Or are they saying something like, 50 tanks heading towards Tbilisi? I'm Guessing that it's the latter and you are twisting the truth and thinking that Russia is attacking again.

Even the US media said it....And how is it better to listen to US media than Russian media when each one is biased? You think the US media is truthful? LOL, watch Control Center and see how they manipulate Iraq. They are HORRIDLY biased against Russia, and no doubt that they would say stuff thats not true. Georgia has also been a part of Russia since the 1800(except indpendent during commy revolution, before being part of Russia again), and many people there still want to be. Which is why people in South Ossestia want to be Russian citizens.
