And if all of humanity descended from them then how come there are so many different races and forms of human beings? Is it scientifically possible?

Quit before your ahead.. Your gonna have some person saying "With god nothing is impossible".. Yes you can not logically argue that Adam and Eve actually exists.. It does not biologically work, and it contridicts numerous pieces of evidence.

Centuries of different weather and breeding'll do that to you. If I spent a month in Florida I would have much darker skin than I do now.

Here's a "scientific" explanation. Adam and Eve were the first humans but then their descendents scattered throughout the Earth. Naturally, the people near the equator became darker skinned due to more exposure from sunlight. Genetic mutations can account for everything else.

I don't really believe the Adam and Eve story but I hope that made sense to you.

Assuming that people generally made babies at the age of 16-25, then since then (6000 years ago), you'd have about 240-375 generations of human beings.

Considering that we've spent at least half of that time looking like this, resulting in 120 - 187 generations of human beings AT MOST.

I don't know how long evolution takes to make changes in facial structure.

From a genetic standpoint, we are all remarkably similar. There is less than a 0.1% difference.

its simple, that was still thousands if not millions of years ago. Over time the people spread out and became different races. Adam and Eve were believed to be in Messepotamia area. That makes it easy for there children to travel to africa and asia.

Ever read the Tower of Babel story? The people were separated by language barriers and went their separate ways. Either God also changed their race too or due to adaption to the environment and incest (a.k.a. evolution on a small scale) there came the different races.

From a scientific standpoint, this isn't that much different than the Out of Africa model. Having one source doesn't mean there can't be human variation at a later date.

maybe I need biology 101? didn't we all have darker skin and the advent of technology (ie better shelter and clothes) meant lighter skinned people were less likely to die and thus more liekly to breed. are you saying a life of being in the sun before breeding will cause a slightly darker offspring?

You answered it on your own. Adam and Eve were most likely symbolic figures of Christianity prone to interpretation and not literal comprehension. Either that or the Bible is just fiction.

Would they not have all died in the flood? The different races would have "been created " after Noah's flood.

Okay. But in terms of evolution only the mutations that take place in the gametes matter because only those traits are heritable.

People in Africa had clothes and shelter. What triggered the change was location. The primary function of Melanin is to protect against UV radiation. As you move further away from the equator, the less overall UV you're exposed to. However our skin does need a certain amount of UV to manufacture Vitamin D. The lighter skin tone is a response to this.

Maybe not directly, but if you look close enough you might find that it does.

Like when Cain was banished from Eden, he was wondering the wilderness and from out of nowhere, he found a wife! :o Adam and Eve only had 3 kids, all of which were boys. It doesn't directly suggest it no, but some events point that way.
