And if all of humanity descended from them then how come there are so many different races and forms of human beings? Is it scientifically possible?

Quit before your ahead.. Your gonna have some person saying "With god nothing is impossible".. Yes you can not logically argue that Adam and Eve actually exists.. It does not biologically work, and it contridicts numerous pieces of evidence. And if all of humanity descended from them then how come there are so many different races and forms of human beings? Is it scientifically possible?

Centuries of different weather and breeding'll do that to you. If I spent a month in Florida I would have much darker skin than I do now.
We're all basically the same. And if all of humanity descended from them then how come there are so many different races and forms of human beings? Is it scientifically possible?

Here's a "scientific" explanation. Adam and Eve were the first humans but then their descendents scattered throughout the Earth. Naturally, the people near the equator became darker skinned due to more exposure from sunlight. Genetic mutations can account for everything else.
I don't really believe the Adam and Eve story but I hope that made sense to you.
Assuming that people generally made babies at the age of 16-25, then since then (6000 years ago), you'd have about 240-375 generations of human beings.
Considering that we've spent at least half of that time looking like this, resulting in 120 - 187 generations of human beings AT MOST.
I don't know how long evolution takes to make changes in facial structure.
From a genetic standpoint, we are all remarkably similar. There is less than a 0.1% difference.
And is your tan a heritable trait?Centuries of different weather and breeding'll do that to you. If I spent a month in Florida I would have much darker skin than I do now.

Biology 101.
Sun can casue mutations in the skin.
Radation can cause changes in the body.
They must've had a lot of kids.....CleanPlayerWhich leads to the next logical step: Inbred children....err :?
Well I would really have to agree with Duxup. It's just a story and not to be taken literally. Old testaments can do that do you ;)

It was just a guess. I'm not qualified to give a step by step answer.
It's a legend. It isn't real.marcogamer07what!!!! so hang on which bits of religion are real????? any of it!????? NNNOOooooooooo.........
[QUOTE="sAndroid17"]no its not. /threadOmni-Wrath
Of course you know a lot don't you. Your a scientist right?
actually yes i am :|Ever read the Tower of Babel story? The people were separated by language barriers and went their separate ways. Either God also changed their race too or due to adaption to the environment and incest (a.k.a. evolution on a small scale) there came the different races.mindstormThe tower of bable what?? st-st--stooory oh yeah, the STORY. Hay guies, why do eggs break when they fall of of a wall, and why do horses try to fix them?

its simple, that was still thousands if not millions of years ago. Over time the people spread out and became different races. Adam and Eve were believed to be in Messepotamia area. That makes it easy for there children to travel to africa and asia.jrabbit99From a scientific standpoint, this isn't that much different than the Out of Africa model. Having one source doesn't mean there can't be human variation at a later date.

maybe I need biology 101? didn't we all have darker skin and the advent of technology (ie better shelter and clothes) meant lighter skinned people were less likely to die and thus more liekly to breed. are you saying a life of being in the sun before breeding will cause a slightly darker offspring? The Bible said that Adam and Eve were the FIRST humans, not the ONLY humans created! Curlyfrii87and doesn't it say one of their sons goes and gets a wife.
What I want to know is how they managed to start the human race without engaging in an incestuous relationship. :?Dark_Knight6The answers I got from Evangelists was that incest was accepted by god only at that point because there was no other way and they also cared to add a gap-filling of custom, home made, genetic "studies" by saying that their genetic information was much superior that ours and that's why we didn't end up retarted. Yeah...
The Bible said that Adam and Eve were the FIRST humans, not the ONLY humans created! Curlyfrii87Would they not have all died in the flood? The different races would have "been created " after Noah's flood.

Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters... and were told to be fruitful and multiply. *cough* incest *cough*

Okay. But in terms of evolution only the mutations that take place in the gametes matter because only those traits are heritable.maybe I need biology 101? didn't we all have darker skin and the advent of technology (ie better shelter and clothes) meant lighter skinned people were less likely to die and thus more liekly to breed. are you saying a life of being in the sun before breeding will cause a slightly darker offspring?
People in Africa had clothes and shelter. What triggered the change was location. The primary function of Melanin is to protect against UV radiation. As you move further away from the equator, the less overall UV you're exposed to. However our skin does need a certain amount of UV to manufacture Vitamin D. The lighter skin tone is a response to this.

[QUOTE="Curlyfrii87"]The Bible said that Adam and Eve were the FIRST humans, not the ONLY humans created! TeenagedI don't think it suggests otherwise though.
Maybe not directly, but if you look close enough you might find that it does.
Like when Cain was banished from Eden, he was wondering the wilderness and from out of nowhere, he found a wife! :o Adam and Eve only had 3 kids, all of which were boys. It doesn't directly suggest it no, but some events point that way.

I was given exact verses from Evangelists were it said that Adam and Eve also had daughters if I remember correctly. The answers I got from Evangelists was that incest was accepted by god only at that point because there was no other way and they also cared to add a gap-filling of custom, home made, genetic "studies" by saying that their genetic information was much superior that ours and that's why we didn't end up retarted. Yeah... :roll:Teenaged
...Right. Or God could have, you know, whipped up some more humans, seeing as he's all-powerful. :? But, whatever, incest sounds fine.
