People like you make me sad, and you're the reason religion can come up with such stupid arguments as "without God society would be a mess and morals would get thrown out the window, people need religion".
Ever thought it would be nice to be "good" to others just for the heck of it? Or at least "treat others the way you'd like to be treated"? People don't need God or religion to be moral, it should be a personal choice simply because it seems like the right thing to do, and morals don't stem exclusively from religion, they're also there just to help society work and not tear itself apart. Even if the 10 commandments didn't exist people would still have rules in place for society.
I'll just never understand why some people like you think there needs to be some sort of reward in order to do something, or a punishment in order to not do something else. I'd expect a little kid to reason this way, but a grown man or even a teenager? Come on! Think a bit!
As individuals we all have to fulfill certain roles to benefit our community. If all you do is cause harm, the only logical way to act would be to dispose of you. How would we get anywhere as a society if everyone went and robbed, raped and killed? We'd get nowhere.
You have to follow certain rules, often ruled by common sense. If all you do is harm the general community, you don't have a place in it either. While you rot in jail I'll happily enjoy my life.

that.
and if God does'nt get you, Nancy Grace will. You can bet on it.

Morality is ultimately just a codification of things that will benefit humanity if everyone practices them. No religion is required in order to figure out that human civilization would not be benefitted by people running around murdering everyone.

So what? If people weren't christian society would probably be a little more open with certain stuff, maybe prostitution wouldn't be illegal, it wouldn't be wrong for any hormone-ridden teenager to watch pron, no one would look down on homosexuals, etc., but chances are there would still be laws in place to punish theft, rape and murder, society needs rules to work properly.
Anyway, all of that is beside the point, read my last parragraph! ^^^

Wow... do you get your information directly from the church? You are off by quite a bit.

Proof? Because morality originates from our genetics which has helped our topsy-turvey species (and ancestors) stay afloat for the past 2 million or so years.
I mean why? It doesn't matter anyway I mean if I don't get caught I can enjoy raping, robbing, and killing. It won't matter when I die becasue I will be gone. You might think it is wrong but how? Morality is man made from religion. There is no righ and wrong. -Dark-Rain-
This has got to be a joke topic!
If it is not, I say what black_cat19 said.

If god is the only thing stopping you frome raping, robbing, and killing, you seriously need to see a psychiatrist.
Even if God does not exist, I think it's rather evident that humans have a vested interest in getting along with one another, given the fact that humans are social animals. If some psychopath came along intending to rob and murder people, he would find a rather strong resistance among the population in his attempts to carry out those intentions.GabuEx
yes, this.
Humans have built in empathy.
occasionally you get some humans that don't.

Just because there is no god doesn't mean that there is no morality. Morality is man made, not god made. It's wrong to rape, rob and kill because it causes harm to others. If your belief in god is the only thing holding you back from raping, robbing and killing people, that's pretty scary to me.
I don't believe in god and I have never thought to myself "Gee wouldn't be nice to rob that girl then proceed to rape her and decapitate her after."Nifty_Shark
You just thought of it now!

Whats the difference between becoming an evil dictator, and a bandit who destroys a civilization?

You mean just as it's morally okay to stone homosexuals?
Ignorance for the loss.
Same....My faith in humanity has just been driven further down the negative mark. Thank you.
