Well obviously, you don't know me. I went to see it because it looked amazing, and I knew I was going to see it LONG before Ledger died.scorch-62

Yeah this goes the same for me. When I saw the first five minutes before I Am Legend came on I was amazed and said to the people I was with that we were seeing it as soon as it was out.

Yeah, I think you're right. Although since I'm stupid I didn't even realize that it was Heath Ledger in the movie when I saw the trailer :| so I wanted to see it before I knew.

But I'm willing to bet when you saw the trailer you werent thinking "wow that looks like the most amazing performance of all time" like some people are doing now...granted you cant get that effect completely from a trailer but you know what I mean

Did he kill himself? I read that his doctor accidentally gave him a drug overdose...

No he himself accidentally overdosed on sleeping pills and other prescription drugs.

Thats the truth whether you wanna accept it or not.

He may have been really good in Dark Knight, but people are going overboard, and thats only because everything is being amplified just because of what happened. If he was still alive people would be saying, yeah he was good. Now people are claiming its one of the best performances ever...

I guess thats just the way it is for all entertainers though, from music to acting. Too bad people dont get all the attention while they are still alive, they'd probably like it a lot more.

R.I.P Heath Ledger

_-MURS-_

It's too bad people don't think this way about certain musical acts *cough*Nirvana*cough*KurtCobain*cough*.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but chances are it won't be one of the best performances ever. It could be Oscar worthy. Ledger IS an excellent actor, afterall.

I'm certain it'll be a great performance, but I agree there's been insane hype.

lol....whether dead or alive, his performance didnt change when he died. If he was alive, his character would be the same, and right now the hyped would actually be much much bigger because people would be so suprised and loved the character so much they would want more, from the joker and ledger.

I would have praised Heath's performance in The Dark Knight even if he was still alive. Who knows what he could have accomplished if he had had a longer acting career. Unfortunately, we'll never know :(

yeah, i think the topic creator thinks that with death, magically the film changed and his performance got better. Its sad to know that he isnt here to hear his praise and that he wont be able to make more films.

I thought it was a great performance, regardless of whether he died or not. The laugh, all his crazy little mannerisms, he had it all down to a tea. Of course people are hyping it because he died, but don't you think it's rather tragic he did do such a good job and won't be around for the sequel?

There's more hype and more people are seeing it because of his unfortunate passing, but his death didn't make his performance any better or worse. He deserves an Oscar nod, and I hope he wins it lol. I would be ECSTATIC if TDK was nominated for Best Film lol.

He was stellar and should win both an Oscar and Golden Globe for best Supporting actor. This movie lives up to the hype, and even though its not for everyone it will please millions.

I would say that it was one of the best I've seen in recent years, but yes, I think that it got more hype because Ledger died. Same reason everyone thinks that Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison are gods. They just died young and could have been so much more. So even though their stuff or performances may have been much better later in life, we only have what they gave us, thus, the overamplified nature of the media and popular opinion.aRE-you-AFraid

I would agree that a lot of people that wouldn't normally go see a movie like this are going because of Heath Ledger's death. However there are those like myself who were hyped about this film before it was even cast, at the time I couldn't ever picture Heath as the Joker, after the first teaser trailer though, that changed my entire opinion. He was perfect for the role and if he was still alive I would feel the exact same way about his performance.

Yeah, I was so hyped for this film, to the point that when I heard he died, although I may seem like an ass, my first question was "Was the film finished? God I hope so..."

I know what you mean, I don't think you seem like an ass for thinking that when he died(a guy I know said the exact same thing). When he died I knew the movie was finished because I watched an interview he did for "I'm Not There" on youtube and he said it was done. When he passed I thought "I sure hope his character isn't going to be apart of a third film.".

this is off topic but i am starting to get really annoyed with people who compare the two joker performances since they are basially to different characters. this joker is alot more sadistic and creepy and the script was written as such to go along with the re invisioning of the series in a much more darker tone. the first one was directed by Tim Burton with a very comical and cartoony atmosphere with it and he acted accordingly. its not fair to judge the two performances based on how the movies actually were, serious and more comical.

The movie has gained more hype do to his death, yes. But Ledger really was the defining point of this movie. He would still have received the same praise from critics had he not died. What would change would be the media's input, always talking about "the late heath ledger's final performance" blablabla, creating more hype, etc. Socially, from the news and whatnot, he is being talked about because of his death, but the critical praise is real, and I believe he would be oscar nominated even if he was still alive.

I also loved Cillian Murphy as the Scarecrow, but Ledger created a role to remember.

He was amazing as Joker. I'm not a batman freak but Heath really redefined not just the Joker but any supervillian's character. That's the personality a villian should have. I'd give him all the credit.

I doubt anyone would have made a big deal about his death if it wasn't related to the movie. It is suggested that he committed suicide because he took his part so internally that it caused him to become the Joker. I think that is why people are making such a big deal about it... because his delivery of the role will be (I haven't seen it yet) utterly fantastic.

lol, well I don't really watch movies that often anyway. I rarely use a phone but you got me on electricity. Anyway it was more about being able to be wild with my imagination with the next movie after seeing it. Knowing you can't put the joker there kind of ruins that for me.

[QUOTE="jujutheking"][QUOTE="Film-Guy"]His performence was a bit overhyped, it was really good but not as incredible as everyone said it was. He was a very good actor but he wasnt the best imo. jujutheking

Why so serious? lol ur the first one out and thousands who said his performance was overhyped, but hey everyone has there own opinion.I thought He was amazing.

I thought his performance was amazing sure but not the best villian performence ever as many have said.

just out of curiousity who do u feel is better. The only person i feel comes close is hopkins.

gary oldman in leon the professional and rutger hauer in the hitcher.

ohh ok.

You should watch the hitcher, its a fantastic thriller from the 80s. The remake was crap thoughm nothing against sean bean but he is nothing compared to rutger hauer's sadistic hitcher who messes with this kid for no apparent reason.
