I doubt anyone would have made a big deal about his death if it wasn't related to the movie. It is suggested that he committed suicide because he took his part so internally that it caused him to become the Joker. I think that is why people are making such a big deal about it... because his delivery of the role will be (I haven't seen it yet) utterly fantastic.foxhound_fox
I love how many theories there are on Heath's death. The one I heard was that he was trying to relieve the pressure put on him from filming.
[QUOTE="super_mario_128"][QUOTE="Trelaf_TheWise"]it's not like he died of a disease or an accident or something...I mean he killed himself. Why the hell should we care? Rich hollywood actor who has all the money and all the women he wants doesn't want to live?---> Go **** yourself then, Amirite?blazinpuertoroc
Did he kill himself? I read that his doctor accidentally gave him a drug overdose...
probably killed him self...taking too many sleeping pill is death waiting to happen. People fall under the pressure, you cant blame him. Money and girls isnt everythingWrong. Heath Ledger had serious anxiety issues his whole life, and especially while filming Dark Knight because of all the pressure. So, he couldn't sleep, and on top of that he was having tons of pain so he got put on painkillers and sleeping meds and anxiety medication, and you can't mix medication like that, and he did.
Thats the truth whether you wanna accept it or not.
He may have been really good in Dark Knight, but people are going overboard, and thats only because everything is being amplified just because of what happened. If he was still alive people would be saying, yeah he was good. Now people are claiming its one of the best performances ever...
I guess thats just the way it is for all entertainers though, from music to acting. Too bad people dont get all the attention while they are still alive, they'd probably like it a lot more.
R.I.P Heath Ledger

This happens all the time people don't really appreciate there work until they die
[QUOTE="totalmachine"]Probably right, although from what I've heard Ledger was pretty spectacular, so he deserves the praise... I guess...[QUOTE="super_mario_128"][QUOTE="totalmachine"]Personally, I believe people are watching this more because it's a chance to see Ledger's final acting position. I don't think they're calling the greatest movie ever because he died! I think they're saying it was a really good movie to pay their respects to a good actor in his final movie. Anyone agree?-Twilight-
I'm not saying he didn't put on one of the greatest performances, I'm just sayin that's why everyone is making it a bigger deal than it should be. :P
DUDE! All I'm saying is that the movie is getting more attention cuz the actor died! The end.

Very true. But not all of the attention is going to the movie simply because he died. I (like many people) went to see it because he seemed amazing in the role (which he was).
I heard he didn't even have the decency to show up to the premierspazmaticmof0my goodness, the audacity! :o

I know, my point was that the movie and his performance is definitely not a bigger deal "than it should be" whatever the hell that means. He died for christ sake, what was the reaction supposed to be? Act like everything is alright and undermine his brilliant work?To say the reaction to Dark Night and Heath's performance is undeserved is ridiculous. It was the single best performance of a villain in any movie I've ever seen, regardless of whether Heath died or not. Heath really did steal the show, and whenever he was off screen I found myself wanting him on screen again. He played it with the perfect dark, creepiness while still being humorous. mfacek
I agree completely. True, it may be getting extra hype from those who really don't care about the movie but just want to see his last performance. However, don't degrade his performance because you think it's undeserved. It is deserved...
He IS the single best villain I've ever seen in a movie, amazing and life-changing. Bale is great, but as countless critics have said, this movie might has well have been titled "The Joker" because it immortalized him.
I didnt saw the movie, but I'm sure heath delivered and surely deserves an oscar NOMINATION.
It is also sure that the fact that he is dead is givin' more ATTENTION to his delivery on that movie, since it is his last, unfortunately.
That put together = such thread
R.I.P.
Yeah it truely is sad to be honest but it seems people get more recognition when they're..no longer..living..fuzzmuffin
Heath Ledger will go down in history as one of the best criminal performances of all time. Have you seen TDK? It blew me away. Even I wasn't expecting it to be that dark, deep, rich and amazing.
There were some small, minute complaints I have, but now that i think about it, they are hardly relevant to the plot as such, or the story as a whole. TDK was a brilliant movie, the best of 2008, and ranks in my top 5 best movies of all time. Its incredible that such a genre specific movie could be so insanely good.
I thought the movie was good...nowhere near the best movies of all time...
And while yes, Heath Ledger was good...I really dont think it was one of the best displays of acting of all time like you people are making it out to be. And im sticking with my original statement, if Heath Ledger wasn't dead, his performance wouldnt be regarded so highly...its just being put more on the spotlight and people are overamplifying it.

Actually, he playued The Joker perfectly, and The Joker is considered one of the greatest villans of all time. So yeah, its kinda easy to see why people will say its one of the best performances theyve ever seen. And a lot of people were hyped about his role before Heath died.

I've been hyped about this movie for more then a year. With that said I do think Heath Ledgers performance is one of the best performances I've ever seen.

He was great in the movie, the movie is a hit, and we need to stop arguing over nothing. Deal?

I agree, don't get me wrong. He was spectacular, Oscar worthy!
I have to disagree.Stop acting like ur opinion is everything. The THE DARK KNIGHT was being hyped greatly before his death, his death helped the film alot, but don't get it twisted the movie was picking up before he passed. Also not everyone will like his performance.I have seen people say al pachino is overrated. The majority think he played the joker great and a tiny few think it was decent.(EVERY SINGLE MOVIE HAS SOME PEOPLE WHO DONT LIKE IT.Stop trying to change people opinionI thought the movie was good...nowhere near the best movies of all time...

I agree. His acting was amazing, but peple are blowing it up. It was definately one of the best villians in a movie, though.DivergeUnify
Perhaps he was the best actor to play a villain then?

Maybe not the best, but definately one of the bestIf Heath Ledger wasn't dead people wouldn't be making such a big deal about people making such a big deal.
I think you are underestimating how much hype was building for his performance just based on the initial clips that came out before he died. If anything, you can attribute the astronomical ticket sales to his death. But his ability to portray a character like the Joker in such an entertaining and simultaneously chilling way in what amounts to one of the best super hero/crime dramas ever is legit. I usually entertain counterarguments to my opinion, but this is one movie and one performance where I don't even think I can give a dissenting opinion a chance.
when he was a gay western fudge packer everyone hated him ....but now hare24

People didn't hate him..he earned an oscar nomination for that performance..

He should have won it. His performance was so much better then Philip Seymour Hoffmans.
Im not saying the movie was over-rated...
Im saying his performance was...

The only people I disagree with are the people who are saying, "BEST PERFORMANCE EVER!!!!111", tbh.
