There are actually some good Christian intellectuals, and some really smart Christians who generally believe they are in the right, but when you get right down to it, you are defending an indefensible position.Indefensible? I think you should look at your own house before rocks are thrown.
Well, when you get right down to it, most arguments in favor of Christianity are appeals to emotion and fallacious reasoning.Which is perfectly fine, and I'm not dissing you if you're using it as a system of personal belief.
We all have things we believe that are supposedly illogical, but if they make us happy and don't cause us to do stupid things, why not believe them?
However, I personally can't really accept such major claims as those made in the Bible, without more evidence than the Bible itself, and isolated accounts of "miracles."
Yet, I do hold the completely irrational belief that Mark Sanchez will eventually become an elite quarterback.
Why?
Because it makes helps me deal with the harsh realities of being a Jets fan, and it does that without me having to go through mental leaps that make me believe in moral systems I don't agree with, and without making me have to support actions that I would otherwise condemn.
