then what is the term for a person who is in his 40s, and has studied the culture of the people he hates? What if he is completely educated, a successful person, and willfully chooses to be a racist?

The uneducated person simply believes what he's told, or what he falsely perceives, about a certain race, and hates the race for it.

The educated person knows these perceptions to be false, yet still hates the race.

In this case the educated person is morally inferior to the stupid redneck.

Well if that were the case you probably couldn't help it. You'd probably get some sort of a bad mental association with white people, like feeling threatened everytime your around them so I think some level of resentment there is understandable. Im not saying its a good thing but I think you should give people that much in those circumstances.

Well if that were the case you probably couldn't help it. I dont like extremist Christians either, but that dosent mean I hate either religeon.

If there were races/cultures that I disliked, if I met someone from those cultures I would not hold it against them, as an induvidual I would look at them the same as any other, its just their culture I would have a problem with, but I certianly wouldent discuss it with them, it would cause problems.

Not that I do dislike any culture, its just that, disliking someone for what race they are/where they come from is a whole different ballgame from disliking a culture in genera but not on a personal level

Actually thats not strictly true.

That would be more akin to hating an ethnicity rather than a race itself.

I think you'll find that the vast majority of true racists hate a group because of its race i.e. skin colour and not its culture. Groups like the KKK and co. discriminated because of 'perceived' differences between black/brown people and 'white' people.

Plenty of people dislike or disaprove of a culture and have no quarrel with the predominant race that follows it. For example, I know plenty of people who hold an intense level of contempt for Islam but have no quarrel with Arabs/Persians. And Islam, for the most part, IS their culture.

And to answer the TC's question; no I guess that it does not make him ignorrant, in the sense that he is aware of the issues and history surrounding his pet hate. But he would still be ignorant in a biological sense if he hated the group for their race and not their culture, which, assuming from your wording, he does.
