Every human is affraid, atheist or not, because otherwise we won't continue the species. Seriously, if heaven is that good why do Christians get upset when a Christian relative dies?

[QUOTE="illegalimigrant"] Please don't kid yourself. I never agreed with you but was using sarcasm. You still only accept was is convinient to you. There is no point in debating because you try to justify that you know everyone's thoughts. Just that alone should prove that you are insane.

You shouldn't make sweeping generalizations if you don't understand the principles of psychological egoism. I'm applying the metaphysics of the system itself to Mother Teresa. The main tenant of psychological egoism is 'people always act in their best interest, because they are acting for want". Even if you assume that some has 'altruistic motives' they are acting from a want to act. The only way that you can get away from psychological egoism is if you're being forced to do something, in which case it also ceases to be altruism. So working under the framework of psychological egoism, altruism is a pipe dream.

Well... either 1) we die. That's it. Game Over. Sleepy-time. The end of consciousness. OR 2) God exists, and we get resurrected for the end of days. That would be a bit of an added bonus. OR 3) we live forever. It's plausible, considering the way medical treatments to aging are advancing... and I'm not talking Neutrogena and Clarins.

I think people that claim they aren't afraid are lying to themselves. I hate how people use the logic that since it's inevitable, one shouldn't be afraid. That's crap. If it was inevitable that I will get attacked by a lion, I'm still gonna be scared. And to answer the OP: yes. Very afraid.

Like I said you seem to think you know what is on other people's mind. I can assure you that you can only know what is on your mind. Unless you were once Mother Theresa. But regarless, you use psycology as a truth when at best is an oppinion.

I'm not afraid of dying. I'm more afraid of the pain that almost certainly will accompany dying than dying itself. Once I'm gone, no more pain, worry, etc. (or anything, for that matter)....and I'd be fine with that.

There's no reason to be afraid of something which you cannot stop.
