Link. (Sad story -- you've been warned)

Would you stay with your boyfriend/girlfriend under similar circumstances even if you'd only been dating for a few months? What about a spouse?

For me, it would be tough but I guess if I really loved her I would stay.

each day that passes we are all closer to death...if you love them...why would you leave them?..... and no...I would not leave my wife if she were diagnosed with a life ending ailment...

There's a huge difference between leaving your wife and leaving someone you've only been dating for a month or so.

Well, yeah. How else are you going to get the life insurance? In all seriousness though, yes.

If someone really cares for the one who is dying, they wouldn't leave. That is possibly the shallowest and most inconsiderate thing a person could do to another person. I couldn't even imagine what kind of emotional distress that would cause the person dying. "Oh sorry, you're dying, I'll need to find someone else now."

If I go back in time to when my wife and I had only been dating for a month I still wouldn't leave her. I would NEVER be able to live with myself if I was like "welp, you're dying...time for me to move on"

I'm pretty sure they made a movie about this if I'm not mistaken? And no, I have a heart so I would not leave somebody under those circumstances.

This, pretty much. "You're dying? Wow, that sucks for you but it doesn't really fit in my life plan. So we're done here? Good. I'm going to go ask your sister out"

yes I would. In fact something about knowing it wouldn't be a long term commitment would most likely make it even easier. I hope that doesn't make me sound bad, but it's kinda the case.

Of course I would. A relationship is nothing without dedication after all, and quite frankly if you stick together long enough one of you will likely pass away before the other.

And this story is nice, but also something I see on a daily basis at my work. I work at a nursing home and have in alot of cases have taken care of people whose spuses end up coming in on a daily basis to help take care of them. In fact just the other day this ladies husband helped me give her a shower.

To be honest, I wouldn't leave her until she passes on. Then, if I have any interest in being in another relationship afterwards (which I highly doubt), I'd start dating soon after...

Staying would almost be like marriage though, which is a little too soon when you've only been dating for a few months. That's a huge commitment.

hell no, why would I do that?

i mean, if she were in a coma or would be hospitalized for years on end I mightseek comfort elsewhere for intimacy, but I'd always stick with her

I can say for sure that a few months into the relationship I'm in, I would have stayed. I still would, of course, no question.

I wouldn't leave because they were dying, though I would if I stopped liking them. I mean, I know they'd be going through a tough time and they don't need me staying there out of pity, nor would I want to stay out of pity.

I would. I'd feel terrible for leaving someone if only for the fact that they're dying, and even if there was more of a reason I'd still feel terrible for leaving at all.

I would absolutely stay with my spouse if he were dieing of an ailment. I wouldn't get remarried either, I'd be too heart broken.

I remember that story, stuff like this gives me hope for humanity still. And of course I would stay with them, all of a sudden they're dying and that means my feelings go to?

Yes. Even if your loved one were fatally stabbed in front of you, you would run to their side, cradle them, and stay with them until they succumb to their wounds. Reminds me of the end of "Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 4". Even my sig pic says so. :( Also, TV Tropes has this: Stay With Me Until I Die

yes, I am not as shallow as to only love someone when they are healthy. And I chose to live with them when they were fit, if I pull out as soon as they are dying, I would be the most superficial (insert bad word for the male part of our species) on the planet. They are dying they have very little time left, is it so much to ask to see to it that the last time is one of security and comfort?

Well of course I'd stay with her. She's the best thing to ever happen to me, and well, she saved my life. I owe her, y'know? :) Plus I love her, so that's more than enough of a reason to stay with her.

It'd be selfish to leave them in a time when they need the most support. Kind of a weird question, but I guess for some people it'd be too hard to watch the one you love die.

I'm not quite getting OT lately. One thread stated, "would you rather live and not have sex, or have sex once and die right after?". Now this. If your girlfriend is dieing from a horrible disease, would you stay with her? This stuff is so obvious.
