However the thing I would not let my child do and would set an age cap on is XBL. I don't care what you say about innocence that wasteland of zero brain cells will be something my child will not be exposed to at least until he is in high school. Find freinds in real life to play mutiplayer with when your younger if you want to so bad. I'm not basing this off of any sort of inate content I'm basing it on the fact that people are sociopaths online and I don't want them being a jerk to my kid or for him to think that its okay to be rude just because you won't get in trouble.peppersfan2

I probably wouldn't give a kid Gears of War until he was 13. If he was 11 I'd give him something intellectually stimulating like Civilization :D

It really depends on them. If I feel they are mature enough and responsible, I probably would. But at 11, they just wouldn't be.

nope i have seen the effects of kids playing M rated games when they are too young. so no im gonna do the same thing my parents did. wait till he is old enough to buy them on his ownFUBAR24

What "effects"? I played Metal Gear when I was 5, Halo when I was 8, and GTA3 when I was 8. I'm 13 now and i play Fallout 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4.

I've played 'M' mature games around that age, but then again the games didn't have as good graphics as they did today. If my son or daughter was mature enough, then I'd let him/her play Gears.

Gears is pretty violent though. More violent than most other 'M' rated games. I might wait until they were 14, but it all depends on their maturity.

I played Duke Nukem 3D, an Adult rated game, when I was young. I came out fine.

ans let him play it. I don't even have a 360 yet and I haven't even played the 1st gears of war but I want it so bad. I was introduced to violence from a very young age and I am a very peaceful person. I actually think it helped me become the pacifistic person I am today. If that's what your son is interested in then don't hold him back from his dreams. You can do what you want because he's your child but still...... It's not that big a deal. I mean, I believe that it's alright for a child to cus at a young age, but there is a time when you need to tell him who and at what places it is a inappropriate to use thos words
