Your opinion on my opinion not being factual but instead a simple opinion is not a fact no matter what the circumstances?
Okay, my logic train just derailed.
You can yell really loud at your kids. MetaKnight50Some words can hurt a lot more than savage beating.
It's discipline. There is a very thin line between fear and respect.Boba_Fett_3710Agree with this.

Could you be any more of a troll? I have never seen you in a different light.I think there's nothing wrong with using discipline on kids when necessary. It's just when it's unnecessary that bothers me. Maniacc1Absolutely. The last thing a parent wants to do is hurt their own kids. That's why they always say "This is going to hurt me more than it is going to hurt you". Obviously it's a last ditch option when keeping your child under control.
Parents should be allowed to smack their children under specific circumstances, and that's when the child is misbehaving, it has been explained why that child is misbehaving (what they're doing wrong/why it is wrong) and they've had at least one warning before hand.
Hitting little Johnny because he's annoying you isn't going to do anyone any good. But telling Johnny that yelling and screaming is wrong because it's rude and explaining that if he does it again he will be hit as punishment, he'll only be bringing it on himself. In the real world that kid would be knocked out by someone twice his size. Luckily it's just a parent trying to teach him a lesson, and some disipline.

If they do, then they're no longer a parent but an abuser.

smacking your kids when they act stupid and disrespect you = proper parenting imo
I saw the topic title and nodded my head in agreement. Read the first sentence in the topic and was disappointed.cryptosopoidiumI got your respect without hitting you... granted, that was hitting ON you... and you're not my kid... outside of role play. >_>

OMG ITS RED!!!! seriously that irritates me how ungratefulThere is an excellent video that demonstrates the 1-2-3 method. In a nutshell it involves putting your kid into timeout on a 3rd infraction.
I wish I could remember the exact quote but to paraphrase he said "Don't expect your child to logically see things your way or come away with an epiphany of understanding and enlightment on how they should behave. The most you can do with children's behavior is not try to control it but manage it [need better word here].
Bill Cosby once said he would his shoe on his kid once, then simply threaten it each time never having to do it again. But then again, he was accused by more than one woman of drugging them to sleep and having his way, so who knows?
Does anyone else agree this is one stupid way to think? My friend said this to me yesterday and I laughed in his face and told him that hitting your kids won't make them "respect" you, it'll do the exact opposite. Do you agree? StaindShadowThe llama agrees.
What if a child isn't at the age to acknowledge what is morally, legally, economically right or wrong. You cant have a sophisticated talk with a child who doesn't understand the true meaning of the word "wrong" as opposed to its usage.Hitting your kids isn't right no matter what the circumstances.

Pretty sure he wasn't trying to be factual.[QUOTE="THE_DRUGGIE"]What if a child isn't at the age to acknowledge what is morally, legally, economically right or wrong. Kids are thick, to the extent that sometimes simple brute force becomes necessary.Hitting your kids isn't right no matter what the circumstances.

I think it's okay to physically discipline kids when they are just completely out of control. But using it too much will do nothing but drive them away from you. Â
Â
thats the thing with this day and age of parenting, they have no sense of parenting, rather spoiling their kids and they do wat the kid tells THEM to do.
parents have no spines now, if a kid throws a fit in a mall, the parent goes and buys the kid ice cream WTF???? NO thats NOT supposed to happen. Â because if you dont discipline them they then become whiny emo bast**** and disagree with everything you say!
to hit and discipline your children is to help them respect you in ways they should and respect the world around them the way they should.
How do you fix a bent pole? you hit it till its straight!Â
