Regan was mediocre as a leader, so was Carter. The reason the graph rises is the Regan equation

Lower taxes + More spending = less debt????

alexmurray
He amassed that debt in anticipation of a nuclear freaking war. That was all military spending, and it seemed to work out alright. Notice how we didn't end up at war with Russia, and the Soviet Union fell?

You have to love how nice words sound coming out of Palin's mouth with that Minnesota/North-Western-Canadian accent.

That's ridiculous. Reagan took us from a recession into a period of economic expansion and gained peace through strength. Bill Clinton took us from a period of economic expansion (due to the Gulf War, the Internet boom, and Reaganomics) straight into a recession. People forget that we were in a recession when Clinton left office. Clinton also did little to keep the country safe. We were hit by terrorists multiple times during his administration and he did not retaliate.

Did you see the graph, sure Regan's strengh was forgien policy but his economic plan failed

Obama had an strong speech. He definitely destroyed McCaine in that category.JeM760soCAL

You don't make speeches at debates? you answer questions and you can't use a teleprompter.

-Real median family income grew by $4,000 during the Reagan period after experiencing no growth in the pre-Reagan years; it experienced a loss of almost $1,500 in the post-Reagan years. -Interest rates, inflation, and unemployment fell faster under Reagan than they did immediately before or after his presidency. -The productivity rate was higher in the pre-Reagan years but much lower in the post-Reagans years. Debt is not the only indicator of economic success.

Thats completely debatable.. Stop making it sound like there is no logical chance why he can not be seen as a mediocre leader.. There are many vices with him, he didn't do anything spectacular.. And did some down right awful things.. Such as arming both Iraq and Iran basically.. Many economists blame alot of economy problems due to Reagans policy making.. He also did things like remove the equal air time, where each canidate had equal air time for commercials, turning into a money war.. This isn't to say he was a poor leader, but quit acting like its blasphemy to some how disagree with his leadership.

Obama can't alk without a tele-prompter...(which is why he brought it back on the campaign trail after trying to go without one......Debates are a funny creature.....it's not about speaking the best....it's about expressing the better ideas in a way that the viewer can grasp it..........Omni-Slash

Obama almost never uses a tele-prompter. Which is a far cry from McCain, who finds himself lost and confused without his speechwriters holding his hand through every major event.

And if he raised taxes we probably still would have been in debt. We will still be in debt in Nov. and we will still be in debt. 10 years from now, I'm sure of that.

You just said it your self that "Obama is just a socialist underneath it all". Where is the proof? You have shown nothing but the fact he happens to support a socialist program that you disagree with.. Big whoop, the United States has tons of socialist polices and programs enacted already.. This isn't to say Obama is the best thing sense slice bread, but stop calling him a socialist it gets old, and it clearly shows how partisan you are..

Well for one, he is trying to introduce tons of Gov't programs, which is the start of socialism, he's increasing the size of Gov't something that for one is a bad thing, if anything it should be smaller.

Most democratic presidents went aways to balance the budget before the next republican president messed it up again. Clinton started going into a downward shift before Bush came in.

He's the only 1 but he only started lowering it very slightly, but also ended many programs, especially military programs which is what gave him so much money.

Your clearly misinformed, are you trying to tell me that one president that was at the backspin of it all, was responsible for ending the cold war? And the numerous presidents before that didn';t have nothing to do with it? Yeah ok , Reagan didn't have much to do with it either, Russia just collapsed on its own due to economic turmoil..

..... What your saying doesn't solve the problem with the increasing debt what so ever.. And the government increases taxes direclty due to need of it.. Not the other way around.. Our taxes are increasing because of the AIG being bailed out, not the other way around..

Americans and there anti-socialism. No wonder your country is in trouble...

Obama can easily beat McCain in a debate especially since the economy will be the major question. Biden would destroy Palin anyday of the week as well.

Where is there? Socialism is a failed practice that even Europeans are starting to reject, hence more right-wing leaders there.

Also McCain will MAUL Obama, why you ask? Because thats what he did in their first debate, McCain answered quick and clear while Obama stuttered and stalled. I am sure you can find their first debate, McCain won easy and will again. Obama can't win on the economy so expect him to smear McCain like he always does, compare him to Bush unfairly and avoid making any clear points.

Also Palin will send Biden packing, she is sweet and well spoken and likeable. She sticks to the issues while Biden is a loudmouth attack dog who will attack more than anything, Palin will own him easy. Obama/Biden need economic disaster and to throw bombs from safe places to win, once the debates start and they can't throw bombs and run all that lead will vanish. No more lies like Obama told Hispanic voters.

Correction: McCain will wipe the floor with Uh-bama. And I wouldn't count out Palin so quickly.

Palax

Palin will fail badly, and obama saying Uh wont lose him the debate

Actually saying uh, during a debate greatly decreases your performance, if you've ever seen your high school (or sorry middle School) Debate teams.. The person who says uhh, usually ends up losing the debate..

ha ha ha your funny, Im in college,

Those people that are being kicked out of their houses dont care about Uhms they care about who can help them the most,

that man is Barack Obama

People who vote for OBama are one of the following; lazy, ignorant, immoral, and/or naive. You can't really believe anything the guy says.

Yet your going to believe some douche bag who says that the fundamentals of our economy are strong?

My definition of fundamentals and yours may differ. I'm not saying McCain is even a good candidate but he sure is better than Obama.

Obama is just a socialist underneath it all. That alone makes him unworthy of a vote

I still don't understand this  he supports one socialist program, National Health care, something that the rest of the west already has.. And some how that makes him a complete socialist? Is there some other socialists points we are missing?

i didnt say everything he outright speaks about is socialist. however i dont want to be like the rest of the western world.

You just said it your self that "Obama is just a socialist underneath it all". Where is the proof? You have shown nothing but the fact he happens to support a socialist program that you disagree with.. Big whoop, the United States has tons of socialist polices and programs enacted already.. This isn't to say Obama is the best thing sense slice bread, but stop calling him a socialist it gets old, and it clearly shows how partisan you are..

the fact that he does support even the slightest socialism is enough for me. i disagree with all.

what party am i a part of? i expect an answer.

... Maybe you should read up of the working of our government.. Because you clearly don't realize we have numerous Socialist programs already in it.. I suppose you must be against the American government as a whole.. Afterall we have numeorus business laws and policies, socialistic education system, a tax system, wellfare, etc etc.. What your saying makes no sense inless you despise the entire american government and what it has been for years and years.

Most democratic presidents went aways to balance the budget before the next republican president messed it up again. Clinton started going into a downward shift before Bush came in.

famicommander

We were in a recession when Clinton left office.

He's talking about National Debt, it has nothing at all to do with being in a recession. The Gov't is much more important than the people.

It's still a valid argument, 90% of teens obama supports support him blindly, don't argue against it cause it's true.. and throughout history youth have been terrible at the polls I don't see any difference here.

Did you stop to think that maybe people support Obama simply because they don't support McCain, and btw I can argue against this because you straight pulled that 90% statistic from your arse.

Clinton led us into a recession. Carter led us into a recession. Both raised taxes. Under Reagan we had low inflation, low taxes, low unemployment, low interest rates, higher prodcutivity, a higher GDP, and a higher median family income. The current recession is a result of the Federal Reserve printing more money than we actually have and people taking out loans that they couldn't pay for.

You do know that Obama is going to tale 2.5 to 3.3 trillion bucks away in revenue while driving spending higher than it is now right? His health care plan is $1 trillion in new spending alone. It's not a valid argument when both canidates cut taxes, but only McCain has clearly stood by less spending. It's like attacking either on immigration when both are the same on it.

If Carter was such a good president then why did he get destroyed by Reagan in the election? And if Reagan was so horrible then why did he win 49 out of 50 states when he ran for re-election? And really how can we trust your graphs, why don't you give us sources so we know they're not from some liberal website.
