That person would be our sitting president Barack Obama, how could a man that was such a chrismatic community leader and has such a dynamic personality become the corporate shill that he is today. This man admittedly smoked marijuana in his high school and college days, but he continues to wage a war against it. He claims to be a man of the people, yet tries to convince us that the NSA monitoring "metadata" isn't an invasion of our right to privacy. This is also a man who justifies drone strikes as legitimate and continues to keep open a glorified concentration camp in the name of protection from "terrorism".

I will admit, I supported him in 2008, not just because of his charm or grace on the podium, but because of what he represents as an example of using your resources and intelligence to rise to hieghts that no one imagined. I really believe that he would go to washington and things would be different, things would get better and continue to do so. Well outside of the stock market, nothing has gotten better and everything as gotten worse. Sure, unemployment is down, but that is only due to the increase in "part-time" hires. These aren't jobs with a nice salary or imaginative benefits, these are meat grinders designed to rob you of your dignity as you beg for both hours and promotional opprotunities (which are non-existant).

I believed him when he said he would have a transparent adminstration, that he would reign in the waste and the fraud that various government agencies are known to have. I thought he was serious about giving real change on issues that matter, but all of that was a smokescreen. He's no different than any other politician and it makes me ill to believe I had the wool pulled over my eyes. It makes me think that if a man with as diverse a backround as anyone, a man that has known stuggle and pain, would turn his back on the american people in this way. I done playing this political game of repulican and democrats, if the next person that runs isn't talking about serious reforms to almost of the laws on the books now in reguards to the drug war and things like the patriot act and FISA, then I no interest in anything they have to say.

I was once a sheep that looked upon the shepard with reverence, but now I see that not only is he mearly human, but also corrupt and dishonest to his very core.

Wait, are you telling me that this man is like every other politician that came before him?

Truly, there is nothing sacred left in this world.

Lots or people got corralled with his "hope" and "change" speeches without setting out a clear message nor did he detail what that hope and change was. It didn't take long for him to really show people that he was nothing but a politician and we all know politicians lie.

This is true, Washington was right to loathe political parties. We need to support someone who isn't tied to an ideology. A person who can be flexible or firm dependind on if what is being discussed is for the benefit of the american people.

Who the f*** cares.

U.S. election is about who you DON"T want into office, not who you WANT in. It's either him, McCain or Romney. As far as I'm concerned, congress is the number one threat to this country's future.

The only reason why I don't want a republican president is because I don't want to give the current GOP in congress any more power.

Considering he's done after this term....what exactly would your support entail? Do you drive to the White House routinely and cheer for him?

I meant like during political discussion. I'd always give the potus the benefit of the doubt, but the more I see his actions, the more foolish I feel.

Obama and Mitt Romney? Both had the most

According to your logic, the person of those two that had the most should have won. They can't both have the most money with respect to one another.

You were overly foolish and idealistic to assume that he was going to "end the corruption and inefficiency of the Federal Government", especially now that we know that he doesn't even have the ability to get congress to let him do so and he was a lawyer before he became a politician. That doesn't mean that you should swing into the other extreme of the scale and become so cynical as to believe that he hasn't done much good. I consider "preventing the U.S. and global economy from sliding into Great Depression 2.0. and taking the first steps towards healthcare reform" to be pretty great achievements given the circumstances.

In any case, in both of his federal elections he was the superior candidate to his G.O.P. opponent by a fairly large margin so even if you feel badly about cheerleading for him, at least understand that your vote wasn't misplaced.

I won't argue he was a better option then the Gop could muster, but this is like being forced to stand in line to have either your foot or your penis chopped off. Of course I'm going to in the very long foot line (to quote Chris Rock)...

Alright, Barack Obama had more than Mitt Romney. Regardless, they had the most when comparing to the other candidatesAckad

Obama campaign spent $985.7 million on the 2012 election
Romney Campaign spent $992 million.

Of course money is important when it comes to running for office. Especially for local / state seats but it's pretty obvious money wasn't the deciding factor for the 2012 presidential election.

Look at all that money in our politcal system, and then we wonder why it's corrupt and cateres to corps. There needs to be campaign spending (and fund raising) limits.

Several states have already decriminalized recreational use... the president doesn't need to do anything, people just need to get less dumb and vote for more intelligent, less conservative representation at the state level.

I am aware of this as I am a NORML member here in TX, we are in the process of putting forth legislation here that would also decriminalize small amounts. Don't know how it going to go over yet, but getting Texas on board would be a watershed moment for the movement to say the least.
