How about you just get people who can play instruments from your own town? They don't have to be incredible, just decent.

[QUOTE="MissRiotmaker"][QUOTE="jaydough"] So... Any music made so far? zabrak999

/topic

not /thread. I'be been creating guitar riffs but I don't have an actual band so I can't show him complete songs. Like I said i'm moving to los angeles in fall to start a band. I'd be a moron to give away my chord progressions though. Same goes for my ideas that I have for the recording techniques

I can guarantee you that none of your chord progressions are original at all if you're playing tonal music. Sorry, but everything that can be done effectively in the tonal context has already been done. Enormously gifted composers have been experimenting with tonality for CENTURIES. And if you're writing music that transcends tonality, it likely won't be very popular, since most people don't care for atonal music.

Perhaps your chord progressions will seem original in the context of the limited palette of harmonic colour that rock bands employ, but it will not be original at all in the context of Western music as a whole.

I guess it's to say that what you do at heart will never be original, with how established music has been all of these years, but it's the sum of everything else that your music offers that will make or break you as a "revolutionist", or someone "original". That's how bands like The Ramones or the Sex Pistols can get away with playing just power chords.

That's unfortunate, because while I don't think you should necessarily be like him, it is a crime to think that none of us are capable of being as exceptional as the very "Gods" we are supposed to worship, and which effectively rule our society. All too unfortuantely most of us never are able to hear that bell of beckoning ever again, and yet those who do will find that they may have the world at their command.
