I doubt they'd be remembered at all. They're pretty much a fad band.

There would have been, but not in a group sense you see it. The thing you're forgetting is that different people have different tastes in music, it would be as clear cut as Chuck Berry V Beatles. And there wasn't that much variety in music as there is now.

But all of these bands are interchangeable so I doubt they will be remembered. Or if they are it will be in the New Kids On The Block way of "Wow they were so bad"

Sorry to break this to you, but your generation is now and thus FOB is now. It wont be until the next 4-5 generations that decide that.

And they wont last because FOB are a fad, their current fanbase consist mainly of angsty teens and pre-teens, most of which will grow out of it at some point. And before you pull the "Beatles had a screaming teen fanbase too" FOB just dont have versatility or songwriting skills that a lot of the classic bands have.

Hence why the are interchangeable, the record industry knows they make money, hence the market saturation, and so the lack of versatility and song writing talent. Limp Bizkit was really popular when i was in school and look at them now, some bands just fade with time.
