Yeah you're right, this discussion isn't about Hillary supporters, nor McCain supporters, nor Obama supporters. This discussion is about you and people like you who blatantly state that the black community is racist because they support Obama because of the color of his skin rather than the principles he holds as a citizen of the U.S. and as a human being.

DivergeUnify

Actually, I rather blatantly pointed out that the black community is not racist for supporting Obama due to color

edit: actually this thread is about a racist foodstamp, not the nonsense you put in your post

w/e I'm tired of all this arguing...lets just be friends =]

Yeah, and the 95% of black people voting for Obama aren't racist at all.

-Sun_Tzu-

Are you implying that if you're black and voting for Obama you're racist?

I'm making the point that racism exists in both parties and that, surprisingly, black people can be racist too.

I'm making the point that racism exists in both parties and that, surprisingly, black people can be racist too.

I know 0 black people that think blacks are superior to whites. I think you need to absorb the definition of "racism", because you have it mixed up with "prejudice" and "bias"...or in the case of Obama, "proud".

[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"][QUOTE="eloyc"]

Bush has been compared so many times with macaques that I can't even remember, and nobody complained about that.

It seems that once you make a joke with a black person, you're a racist. I'm not saying that there's no racist people that like to be offensive against black people, but there's also people that make critical jokes and that's it.

Not every joke that includes a black person is because of racism.

eloyc

........ What are you talking about? What critical joke is to be made from this that does NOT include race when you incorporate a bucket of fried chicken and watermellon with him?

I'm talking in general terms, I didn't say that this is a clear critical joke, but I meant that sometimes the word 'racism' is overused.

I'm sorry, you said this is a joke and that "racism" is overused? see...you're probably really young and perhaps somewhat clueless. let me clue you in to some fun Jim Crow-era memoribilia:

so um....where's teh funnay? these images and archetypes were used to perpetuate some of the worst, most degrading violations in American history.

or do you even know what an archetype is? Jim Crow? Is all this new to you? Ignorance is not an excuse for supposing these matters are trivial.

Racism is often times misused (most recently by whites), but real racism and racist depictions exist and persist. If you can't understand how this is in that same vein of BS, you need to do some remedial early-mid 1900's study.

But don't ever be so uninformed as to try to excuse something like this.

The only blacks you know that are voting for Obama would have voted for whoever the Democratic candidate was. If you know any black people at all. They're NOT voting for Obama becuase they think Obama's skin color makes him superior to John McCain.

I'll tell you again: racism is not the word you want to use. Blacks are democratic party loyalists. They are excited about the prospect of a black candidate and it makes them proud. But trust me, they were going to vote for Obama or Clinton. ANYONE but a Republican.

I also appreciate the fact that you've come into this thread and refused to actually condemn the actions perpetrated by the Inland GOP, instead attempting to make yourself feel better about it with some sort of bizarre moral relativism.

I guess I should have figured you to be that kind of person. Hardcore republican that will even condone racism, so long as it forwards your interests. Nevermind the actual black Republican party members...

Sheila Raines, an African-American member of the club, was the first person to complain to Fedele about the newsletter. Raines, of San Bernardino, said she has worked hard to try to convince other minorities to join the Republican Party and now she feels betrayed.

"This is what keeps African-Americans from joining the Republican Party," she said. "I'm really hurt. I cried for 45 minutes."

...who were hurt by this. I'm sure she'd find comfort in your replies. Good to know who I'm posting around. Clearly the GOP doesn't want black members in their party. and the best part is all you have to do is keep doing and saying what you guys do.

Wow. It's one idiotic group. But hey, keep thinking it represents all of the GOP accurately. Whatever makes you feel better....

The point he was trying to make, that you can't seem to grasp, is that there's racism on both sides. So please, stop acting like Dems are some kind of enlightened beings.

and you have yet to condemn it as well. maybe you had no clue, but condemning it is the way to help people understand who this person speaks for. being mad at people who are upset by it only makes it look like you condone it.

NO, I don't assume anything with you people. If you don't condone it, then damn it say you don't condone it. It's a simple process. would you like to see how mature republicans handle this kind of thing? Observe:

A despicable, racist attack: the perpetators should be shunned from society for all eternity.

This woman gives Republicans a bad name and she should be expelled from her party (assuming that is possible), and should voluntarily resign all leadership positions.

And the very fact that she thinks this won't be plastered all over the Internet or the news media is bizarre.

She is just a down right disrespectful person. And when promoted for an apology the best she can come up with is something to this effect "I didn't intend to offend anyone."? Or she connected her disgusting racism with a comment Obama made, like Obama's comment initiated her racism?

See the difference here? Making excuses for or engaging in moral relativism only makes YOU and YOUR PARTY look worse. I don't suppose the entire GOP believes any of this stuff is good. HOWEVER, when you come into a thread where people are collectively shaking their heads and attempt to erect a defence around it and spend all your time defending instead of dedicating at least one post to showing us all YOU do not agree, all you do is feed the stereotypes.

I'm done with this vein of conversation between you and I. I've not seen any condemnation. Only "we obviously don't think it's right" BS, which you forced out through clinched teeth. You don't have to say anything anymore, frankly. You've said enough for me to formulate my new opinion of you. Now please, leave me be. I have a thread to entertain. And I'll not be bothering with you at this point.

If you actually read my first post. I was just stating how their are racist on both sides of the poltical spectrum and all races. Sorry if this is hard for you to comprehend. So why you even posted this in the first place I really don't know. It's not like we know don't know that there are racists our there....not to mention you implied that this group represents most of the GOP, which is pathetic attempt at labeling Republicans as racist.

And by the way, I'm Libertarian. I don't really belong to a political party, but I generally will support Republicans because they share the ideal of small government (most of the time).

I love how you ignore my second point.

he got 90% of the black vote in the democratic primaries for tons of reasons. because they like him. becuase they identify with him. because they believe in his message. because he's easy to like. because they think he'll represent the interests of said community stronger than anyone else. because they were encouraged to support him. because he's encourages people. because some look at it as a further breaking down of the racial barriers in America. because they believe he's strong enough. because they trust him more. because he worked on Chicago's south side for years. because he's a charasmatic speaker. because they believe he has the wisdom to succeed. because they believe he has the temperrment to lead. because they see a little of themselves in him. because of his story. because of the example of his family. because they feel he's right on the issues that matter most to them. because they like being a part of history. becasue everyone likes an underdog. because he was against the war from the beginning. on and on and on and on.

now.

all of those reasons and many more constitue the answer to your question. and lest you forget that Al Sharpton, Cynthia McKaskill and Carol Mosley-Braun (all black) ran for President 2004 and got next to none of the black vote, I think your sad theory that black people selected Barack Obama because he was black resembles swiss cheese.

But you know...you like to make up things as you go along. Proceed.

hurt feelings? Look: I've not accused you of racism. In fact, the only thing I've said in this thread that was racist were the actions alleged in the OP.

and that I'm greatly disappointed that some of us *cough* have taken to defending the actions in the OP or ignoring them entirely in order to go on some bizarre attack.

If you don't see racism in the OP, I really have nothing more to say to you. But was I accusing YOU of being racist? Find the post where I said such. When you return from your failed quest, you'll be forced to do one of two things:

1.) Acknowledge that you took personally my opinion that the actions in the OP were racist and that you, by attacking those who are upset by the actions in the OP, gave the sad appearance of either not caring or not having any compassion at all, or

2.) That it hurt your feelings because it hit a soft spot in your character.

I don't care which it is. Only that you acknowledge the actions perpetrated in the OP were racist. In fact, I really don't care if you do or not. You're probably pretty bright. I'm sure you've figured that out on your own.

All things being said, I've nothing more to say to you, good sir. Enjoy your evening. And better luck next time.

The GOP appears to be launching an assault on intelligence

efrucht

that vein of the GOP certainly was. pretty sad that someone created it, someone approved of it, and someone printed and sent it out. all of those hands and eyes this would have passed through gave their approval.

all should be removed from any position of authority within the GOP. NOW. YESTERDAY.

Coming from a registered Republican....WTF....Racist asshats.....

Dreams-Visions

Win.

Omni always gets it right. it's some of these OTHER posters that miss the mark.

Edit: Sorry, trix. I told you I was done. I'll not spend a single second reading your reply. You could have saved your energy.

Why? No really, why? Let me guess, you've somehow came to the conclusion that I'm racist, which couldn't be farther from the truth. Again, get the stick our of your ***. It's like you want to see racism where there is none. It's pathetic.

hurt feelings?

You certainly implied that I was somehow racist for not condoning what they said, even though I thought it was obvious and I didn't have to point it out. In my first post, I just pointed out how both parties have idiotic racists in them, so to label one party (you said the GOP towards the end in your OP, not just this group) as supporting racism is just downright laughable.

"Clealry the GOP wants to be assured of getting as little of the black vote as possible with these situations. they just don't know when to quit."

I was just reading the posts in this thread and like I usually do, decide to comment on them. Most of the time I don't even comment on the OP, rather the other poster's comments. Sorry if you somehow need every post to say that they condone this in order for you to believe that they don't support something like this in order for you to get some sort of satisfaction.

Don't even try to get out of this. You implied I was racist by saying I don't condone something like this. It's obvious. It's pathetic.

As for the highlighted, you're feelings seem to be hurt here. You're the one who went off on me in the first place. I was just stating a simple fact, that there's racist on both sides. The truth hurts I guess....

glad to educate you:

not a coincidence these symobls continue to be used. not that I expect you to understand...but when fellow GOPers are run off crying, maybe you should take note.

No, just uninformed. I laughed the first time. but it's because I didn't look closely at what was on the bill itself. it was the additional symbols that make it offensive. and if you still don't understand why, I strongly encourage you to learn your history. 1900-1950 Jim Crow. Sambo. Segregation.

What it meant, what it means today and why it's ANYTHING BUT a laughing matter.

Not that I expect YOU to understand, since you seem to believe everyone who disagrees with your silly GOP bashing is uneducated, but I wasn't born yesterday and am aware of those images. . . none of which are used in your picture in the OP (you know, the one you're complaining about?).

The idea that all black people like watermelon is not racism; it's a stereotype. And black people in the GOP? There are quite a few, especially in the White House.

And I have told you before, I'm not a Republican. But hey, anyone who disagrees with you must be the enemy. . .

1.) relative to the number of black Democrats, there are very few black Republicans. don't be naieve. Don't expect us to be either, k?

2.) It was a stereotype that perpetuated racism. Don't try to drag me down into some simple-minded debate over semantics. it cheapens the impact of the experience.

3.) No, you just defend Republicans at every turn. Including now. As you bill this "silly GOP bashing"...except that it's not a trivial matter, and it was a vein of the GOP.

wanna try again? without trying to find ways to excuse everything done in the OP?

Well the dollar bill of Obama doesn't say that the Inland GOP group is racist, but is certianly implies it......

You don't have to outright call someone a racist to label them as one. You went crazy on me for not condoning this in my first post, in which I was just making a comment on somebody's comment, which is usally what I do in every thread. You claimed that I never stated that I condoned this (which I didn't, but I thought I didn't have to point out that I don't), which means that I must support it. Now this whole dollar bill thing is racist, correct? So by saying I support this, you're implying that I'm racist. Is that too hard to follow for you? Or do I need to break it down even further......

I haven't addressed the matters in the OP? I said that I didn't support this crap. What do you want me to do, write a 20 page essay on it? I didn't think it was that important because I already know that there's plenty of racist people out there. That's why this isn't suprising to me.....

And you haven't addressed the fact that you labeled the GOP as supporting this crap.

Oh, and the feelings mutual Dreams-Visions. Trust me.

I am aware of the Jim Crow laws and all that segregation and such that happened back then. Either way I find this funny. I find racism and stereotypes funny. Thats just how I am.

1. Perhaps you shouldn't say that there are so few black Republicans, and should instead say there are few black Republicans in relation to black Democrats?

2. Stereotype =/= racism. It's that simple, even if it does help fuel racism.

3. I am not defending Republicans here; I'm saying that your accusation that this is racism is not true. You bash the GOP in just about every topic you make and are so incredibly biased that it'sridiculous.

3. I am not defending Republicans here; I'm saying that your accusation that this is racism is not true. You bash the GOP in just about every topic you make and are so incredibly biased that it's laughable. It gets annoying.

1.) Because there ARE very few. How about you name off all the black politicians in Washington DC that are Reublican. I'll even let you include Michael Steele. Shouldn't be hard. there are only about 8 of them. ;) Then you can tell me who in the CBC are Republicans. Again, I'll wait.

2.) Semantics. It's been used as a weapon to HURT black people. It is a tool used to perpetuate racism and racial stereotypes used to subjugate and margianalize the black Americans in order to perpetuate the idea of them as less than equal. These images existed and persisted in these ways into the late 80s. the people who put this together knew what it would hit and what it means. It really IS that simple.

3.) See #2. This was an act used to stoke the same fires of bigotry and racism we've seen time and time again. Your game of semantics is just that...a game. and a deviation from the real issue at hand. This item not only offends the black community, it offends fellow black GOPers. But this is the internet...where internet boldness like yours can persist. The reality is that you wouldn't tell a black GOPer who is rightly offended by this (like the black Republican interviewed in the OP) that it isn't racist to her face. Nor to mine. So do what you do...play your game...but expect me to sit it out. I know what it is. I've seen it time and time again. The only thing it lacks is a noose...but people like YOU would simply say that "well you know...people of all colors were hung, so...it's not a symbol of racism or our racist past...it's just a coincidence that these symobls find themselves aligned together in a way that denegrates a black man..."

3a.) The funniest part of it to me is that, I could care less if there were perpetuated by the GOP...as do you. The fact of the matter is no matter who created this I would have this very same opinion about it being wrong, racist and disgusting...and you'd sit there and issue the same defense of it. so cut the BS. It's no more about the GOP than watermelon is. It's about the continuation and abuse of historically denigrating imagry to stir up those emotions.

*hardest eye-roll ever*

You can do better than this.

As always, dreams, it was a pleasure to watch you do battle. To the republicans honest enough to call this what it is, i commend you. to those that say it is a stereotype not racism, to think that most blacks love fried chicken and watermelon is to believe a stereotype. to print imagery based on that as an attempt at insult in racist.
