Is Anime the Worst Form of Entertainment Ever?

I swear half the threads on OT are about anime.

How can people watch anime? I don't understand the fascination.

It's just poorly drawn characters with exaggerated features going "I HAVE FIRE BALL MEET YOUR DOOM KOGURASHI!" Lots of flashy stuff happens in the background while the two people fighting float in the air but never touch each other until it's zoomed in so close on their faces you can see their skin cells.

This is the premise of every anime I've ever seen. How can people find this crap entertaining? It makes me want to find whoever makes that crap put kill them to put the world out of misery.

People obsess over this stupid **** when they could be learning about stuff that actually matters. ALL TV sucks...but anime is right at the bottom of the list with professional wrestling and American Idol.

You do know that Anime was not invented for "teh lulz"...It was invented because the Japanese did not have the equipment and money to hire actors and make films. Anime was created to portray human emotions...

Like the show, "The Moment of Truth". There was an actor from Don Fransisco Sabado Gigante...How is that "normal people"?

I think it all depends on what the mass media is into. So its not too esy to get a direct answer on it, but personally, I feel tabloids/anything regarding celebs is the worst form of entertainment. I was bored and peaked in a magazine at work once and there was this "They're just like us" so... if they're just like us then why make a big deal?

Celebreties are like Scientologists *or already are...* they like to make a big scene out of everyday normalities.

You know what? anon should start writing the tabloids... then it'd really be entertaining.

i suppose people here would rather read about or watch some men and women in kooky looking costumes whose "hidden identities" are so obvious ( i mean look at super man. nobody could recognize him when he puts on his glasses. how stupid is that?),, with countless stories that nobody could possibly follow through, etc. etc.

No it's not. There are far more worse than anime.

There are good animes as well as bad animes and this is something you get in every form of media and not just anime. Also, put in mind that an anime being good or bad is a subjective matter.

... I don't iunderstand this irrational hate towards Anime.. Many Animes are spectacular.. If it weren't for anime, series such as the Matrix would not exist what so ever..

I don't really like anime. I used to be really into it a few years back and used to watch all kinds of shows and read all kinds of mangas, then I just got seriously annoyed by it all. everything is so cliche and over the top, I just lost interest. yeah there was some anime I liked, but in general I'm just not interested, but I wouldn't call it the worst form of entertainment because a lot of people seem to love it.

what annoys me are japanophiles.

how can people go around maving such grave assumptions when they pbviously haven't realized that anime has a good number of shows that aren;t about guys floating around. Here's an idea, why don't you actually go out and (god forbid) take a look at some real anime in stores??? Oh, but then you wouldn;t be able to b*tch on such a level as you now.....
