I love them. But I hear a bunch of crap about them and I'm sick of it. People say that Fall Out Boy's cover for Walk by Pantera was better that A7X's. What do you think.uberpwner93
Avenged is a good band despite what some jerks might tell you otherwise.
The only reason there is such a backlash against them is because they got popular and some dumb people started going around saying Gates is the greatest guitarist ever, which despite how good he is he definitely IS NOT THE BEST!
Oh and anyone who would diss on their cover of Walk is someone whos opinion on music is worthless. THey covered that song so incredibly well that anyone insulting their cover is indeed insulting the song itself.
I havn't heard alot by them, but they are warming up for 'Maiden this summer so I'll hear more then.Teppe2k
Sounds like a great concert.
Yes, but arguing about musical style preferences is almost entirely pointless.SpaceMoose
I agree and I don't like them either...their guitarist and drummer are really good though. I just don't like the songs they write.
I mostly prefer their older stuff. City of Evil is a decent album and their new single 'Afterlife' is quite catchy.Big_Bad_Sad
I've never heard a person say a metal song is "catchy"
Yes, but arguing about musical style preferences is almost entirely pointless.SpaceMoose
indeed it is!!
All 4 of A7X's albums are great, the best is City of Evil though. I used to be kinda emoish and only liked there new two albums, but now I am anti-emo, pro metal, and an MCR fan. A7X is not as bad as people say, they are a great band with great songs.zombiepanda13
You can't be all those things :? The third one contradicts the other two.
i dont like them to meh there cheesy and umm very predictable i mean i heard there style of music already like 15 years ago
i dont follow them but iam sure there albums all sound very similar and i hate that i want a band to change every album
Norg
Actually that is one thing people must give them credit for and that is the way they change their sound a bit every album.
Honestly, their only 2 albums that sound similar are their self-titled and City of Evil.
To prove my point, heres a song from each album:
Sounding the Seventh Trumpet
Waking the Fallen
City of Evil
Self-Titled
I really don't like them. I don't think they're all that great, I don't get why people like them, but that's just me. However, I can't stand it when someone says they're metal. They simply are not metal. With their current direction, I doubt they will make the transition to metal, and as far as I am concerned, they're just going to stay metalcore like they always have.Blood-Scribe
Waking the Fallen was definitely metal. Sounding the Seventh Punk is an odd mix of punk and metal, but more punk than anything. Self-Titled is pretty much hard rock.
As for City of Evil, it is hard to call it not metal yet say Maiden is IMO. I definitely think they were trying to emulate Iron Maiden with that other album.

Waking the Fallen was not metal, it had pretty much the same Metalcore (and a little bit of Post-Hardcore) structure as Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. There's a lot of breakdowns that were used in both of those albums, and it didn't really have the right feel to the point where you could call them metal.
In fact, pretty much everything before City of Evil was the furthest they were from metal, but even then, they haven't really come that far. Even so, based on the way they have been progressing, it's obvious that they don't intend to actually be real metal. I can see how the way they added some heavier elements in their previous work made them seem as though they were much closer to an actual metal sound given that City of Evil sounded like a mix of Iron Maiden and a bit of Guns N' Roses, but it didn't really meet any decent metal standards in terms of how it was composed and executed.
There early stuff was all right but today, hell no, and Fall Out Boy did a cover of Walk .

Oh dear, I don't even want to imagine that, Pantera have an agressive singer, who makes the song sound good, it would sound so wrong with a pathetic whiney pop singer.

No actually Waking the Fallen was a very different record from STST. It definitely had a metal feel to it and at that point I do believe they did think of being a metal band. That was a definite metal album, not metalcore whatsoever.
As for now, God knows what they are trying to be. I don't care for their new cd at all and it seems like a lame Guns and Roses knockoff or something of the sort. Still waiting for them to return to metal......

I myself think Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking The Fallen along with the EP are their best albums. Im not a fan of their other work. I thought they were amazing until I seen them live and was dissapointed, but I met Zacky, Shadows and Johnny after a gig in Glasgow a few years ago and they were soo nice. The other two werent very nice.
But anyway, I reckon you either like early or new A7X and their cover of Walk is by far the best.

It would be the equivalent of the nerdiest kid in the school trying to stand up to the strongest kid in the school.

I don't know if anyone will stop or start liking them because of what genre they fall under. I was never able to get into them a couple years ago when I tried listening to all of their albums up to City of Evil. It's not so much that I don't like them because they are metalcore, it's just that people tend to make the mistake of saying that they're metal, which they aren't. That sort of misassumption just irritates me. It's one thing when it comes down to opinion, and another when it comes down to classification.
