Is Avenged Sevenfold really that bad?

I love them. But I hear a bunch of crap about them and I'm sick of it. People say that Fall Out Boy's cover for Walk by Pantera was better that A7X's. What do you think.uberpwner93

Avenged is a good band despite what some jerks might tell you otherwise.

The only reason there is such a backlash against them is because they got popular and some dumb people started going around saying Gates is the greatest guitarist ever, which despite how good he is he definitely IS NOT THE BEST!

Oh and anyone who would diss on their cover of Walk is someone whos opinion on music is worthless. THey covered that song so incredibly well that anyone insulting their cover is indeed insulting the song itself.

I havn't heard alot by them, but they are warming up for 'Maiden this summer so I'll hear more then.Teppe2k

All 4 of A7X's albums are great, the best is City of Evil though. I used to be kinda emoish and only liked there new two albums, but now I am anti-emo, pro metal, and an MCR fan. A7X is not as bad as people say, they are a great band with great songs.zombiepanda13

Actually that is one thing people must give them credit for and that is the way they change their sound a bit every album.

Honestly, their only 2 albums that sound similar are their self-titled and City of Evil.

As for City of Evil, it is hard to call it not metal yet say Maiden is IMO. I definitely think they were trying to emulate Iron Maiden with that other album.

No actually Waking the Fallen was a very different record from STST. It definitely had a metal feel to it and at that point I do believe they did think of being a metal band. That was a definite metal album, not metalcore whatsoever.

As for now, God knows what they are trying to be. I don't care for their new cd at all and it seems like a lame Guns and Roses knockoff or something of the sort. Still waiting for them to return to metal......

I myself think Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking The Fallen along with the EP are their best albums. Im not a fan of their other work. I thought they were amazing until I seen them live and was dissapointed, but I met Zacky, Shadows and Johnny after a gig in Glasgow a few years ago and they were soo nice. The other two werent very nice.

But anyway, I reckon you either like early or new A7X and their cover of Walk is by far the best.

I don't know if anyone will stop or start liking them because of what genre they fall under. I was never able to get into them a couple years ago when I tried listening to all of their albums up to City of Evil. It's not so much that I don't like them because they are metalcore, it's just that people tend to make the mistake of saying that they're metal, which they aren't. That sort of misassumption just irritates me. It's one thing when it comes down to opinion, and another when it comes down to classification.
