After hearing about another company buying Cnet I will stick around for awhile to see if any positive changes will be made.
Plus I heard they're going to hire pirate hookers to moderate the site

Day one!
its really not the mods fault. its the fact that GS is going by barney rules. if your not hugging a kitten you get moddedPSBox3SixWi
You can't a hug a dog now?!
[QUOTE="gorilazandgames"]Srsly posting Nirvana's Nevermind album cover in A POST YOUR FAVORITE ALBUM COVER thread should not earn you a week-long suspension....foxhound_fox
its not like it was porn or anything, it was art.And who seriously is gonna "do the deed" to that?
[QUOTE="gorilazandgames"]Srsly posting Nirvana's Nevermind album cover in A POST YOUR FAVORITE ALBUM COVER thread should not earn you a week-long suspension....foxhound_fox
Indeed otherwise I would be posting the cover of the first Pixies album instead of a picture of the band members whenever I post in the WAYLT thread. There's a lot of albums that I don't post the picture of as they are a tad risque' even if they don't have uncovered nudity displayed of the good bits.
Although I understand people's frustration with having to edit yourself so much, I always point to other boards and places where they don't mod you much, or at all, and ask people "would you want to hang out there?". Do you really want Gamespot to have posts like the comments at Youtube?
i've been moderated over 50 times, and only a few of them have left me blindsided, Gametrailers is the most overmoderated forum from what most of my friends have told me... i dare not go there though.
plus, GS has a TOS for a reason, if you can't abide by it, you're bound to be modded.
Definitely, I got modded for something silly yesterday. I re-read my post, I didn't see ANY reason at all why it was 'offensive'. I just said that you shouldn't judge people, what's offensive about that?Hinata237
Some people don't like to be judged? I don't know...
Gamespot is moderated appropriately in my opinion.
I'm a mod over at planetdoom.com and many of our users are a lot older because Doom is an older game, so when they were teens playing it back in the 90's, they got a lot of their immaturity out of them back then. Now they're older, and we don't have to watch what they say. When Doom 3 was coming out, however, a lot of new gamers flooded us and we had to change the rules.
I think Gamespot is moderated appropriately because, if you think about it, GS has had an influx of members over the last 3 years - by the thousands. Having a population of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands really means that groundwork needs to be laid for common issues that are prevalent in the forum. If there was no rule for posting "no." in a thread simply for the heck of it, then someone could post
"Poop"
as a thread title and get away with it; with content in it that contained pictures of poop. And if you censor one person for cursing, you should have to censor everyone, to be equal, even if that person is a known member and has a high post count. There is a science behind the madness, and I for one think that this place does do a fairly reasonable job of keeping everyone in light - in light that mods do their job pro bono and don't make any money off their time spent locking and editing posts.

GameSpot exaggerates when it comes to moderating.
I've only been moderated twice here for pretty minor things my whole time on this site, I follow the rules, and I enjoy going to this site alot.
honestly, The amount of moderation here is fine as far as I'm concerned...
[QUOTE="thriteenthmonke"][QUOTE="Luncbox1"]I've only been moderated twice in the 4-5 years I've been going here, including my old account which has about 4x the posts as my new one here.
I don't see a problem with the amount of moderation here. I prefer having civil, intelligent conversations where people talk as they would at the dinner table.
Luncbox1
What?
Usually when people begin to resort to swearing, insults, and racist/sexist/whatever-ist comments the intelligence factor goes down and it just turns into a crapfest.
Go to system wars, and see if you can resist getting in a fight...
No, the forum on modsonly.com is the most over-modded.Bloodbath_87
gee, I would have never guessed.

I figured, i was going along with it, though maybe I didn't need the rolls eyes...meh...
meh.. Its usualy my own fault when I get modderated. and when Im getting banned, Im just gonna start a new account Problem solved!! lol
GOD yes! Just got moderated in the "Emo Movement" thread and I have no idea why.Epak_
Welcome to the club. I got suspended for posting something completely fine and couldn't figure out what I did wrong. Turns out that I shouldn't have included some other users 'offensive' material in my quote.
it seems like you can get modded on a whim for the slightest thing. it seems a bit ridiculous. example.... i was asked a question. i said, "no" and got modded. was my "no" on a thread with a few PAGES of discussion really bothering anyone? whatcha think? PSBox3SixWi
Saying "no" doesn't really contribute to the thread...
I'm glad moderators are doing their jobs, otherwise, we would have "were r teh mods" threads every 5 minutes ;)

Well if you're asked a yes or no question, then what's wrong with posting yes or no? You shouldn't always be required to give some kind of big schpeel to a simple question.

I'm pretty sure 3 words or less constitutes spam, so just saying "No" would be spam.[QUOTE="printer72"][QUOTE="cfamgcn"][QUOTE="PSBox3SixWi"]it seems like you can get modded on a whim for the slightest thing. it seems a bit ridiculous. example.... i was asked a question. i said, "no" and got modded. was my "no" on a thread with a few PAGES of discussion really bothering anyone? whatcha think? jaydough
