It reminds of when ipods were starting to become popular. One of my profs did a survey during lecture of who had a smartphone - about 90% of hands went up.

I just got my first smartphone recently, a Droid Bionic, and it's the best device I have the pleasure of carrying around now.

They are not getting cheaper. It's all about the service, and service is definitely not getting cheaper. I refuse to pay for two internet services, one for home and one for the smartphone.

I don't have one, and I doubt I will, at least in the foreseeable future. I can easily afford one, but I have no desire to have my nose buried in one everywhere I go and and everything I do. I just don't want to become one of those smartphone zombies.

I dont have one and never plan on having one. They are cool when you get them, but its been unanimous among my friends that after a while they become annoying. All I use my phone for now is to text, so I dont really need a better phone than what I have

I got one, to surf the web on the go, read news headlines, to Google or Wikipedia check stuff if I'm curious about something on the spot and don't want to make a mental note to check when I get home, to check movie times, use Google maps when traveling, sometimes share YouTube videos, as a portable calculator,I'm always finding ways to keep myself occupied with it... and it's a phone so it does phone stuff like talk and text. I don't get people like my parents though, both have smart phones and all either of them can do is call each other and text, that's about it, kind of a waste of a smartphone. And they're not the only ones that have smart phones that do this.

F*** no. We just a topic here about some guy b***ing about how people like being able to use Wikipedia on the go. There's still people who don't want dialup. Of course there are people who don't want no fancy phones.

Unfortunately, this is the growing problem. More and more people are occupying themselves with it in certain situations where their attention should be directed at other things.

I've had two. I remember how magical it was when I leaped from a busted env 2 all the way to a Droid X. It was such an amazing experience. Then I got the thunderbolt and hated it. :/ I am using a glitchy Droid X again. But IDC because it is still a great phone, gingerbread just destroyed it.

It has become a huge part of my daily routine.I work at a design agency and it's pretty nifty to be able to see mine and my colleagues work schedules and appointments on the go.

- phone
- chat app
- email
- mp3 player
- photo/video camera
- video player
- news feed
- internet on the go
- social media (facebook, twitter)
- navigation system
- calendar
- to do list
- travel planner

I could live without it, but it's damn handy to have all those functions in 1 device in your pocket.

other than the phone functions, Pandora and Navigation are probably the two most functional apps for me. Listen to Pandora all day at work.

The only people I see glued to their phone like that are those that are texting and you don't need a smart phone for that.
