[QUOTE="Arcade-Fire"] hahaha thats actually priceless, first off comparing the internet the a phone doesn't make any sense because mobile phones aren't and never have been outlet for meeting people, its a place where people who already know each other communicate with each other. making friends online is wrong for a few reasons, its unnateral and risky and I and many people view it ass the last refuge of the social recluse. Omni-Slash
...priceless is right.....The internet like the phone is a form of communication....sure you may not peet people on the phone....but a chatroom/forum is no different than taking a risk at a bar or any other random chance meeting..."un-natural"...classic.....and social recluse...that may have been true 10 years ago....no longer,,,sure some socially inept people are online...but so are many others....

'a form of communication' with not only strangers but with people who you don't know there name, age, sex or any details about them. thats the diffrence between meeting people in a bar. and people who are socially arkward in real situations can have all the confidence hiding behind anonymity of the internet, that is why i and many people see it as a place for weirdos to make friends. and its un-natural and just plain sad to feel like you know and are friends with someone who you know nothing about.

What do you really know about a person at a bar other than their physical appearance and maybe their voice? Methinks you place too much importance on the physical aspect of people. roughlytheir age, gender and if your lucky where they live. and the people you know online could easily turn around and tell you they have been lying to you all these years for the craic.

You see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are. So in a way, I know your friends better than you ever did. Would you like to know which of them were cowards?

Anyone can be a liar. Whether they're over the internet or standing right in front of you. This will always be the case. I for one choose not to live my life under the assumption that everyone I meet is lying to me. There's just no point.

ofc you can say that. its an opinion. he/she means indirectly that youre incapable of understanding this matter, since youre (regarding this instance) closeminded. a grand example is how you can talk down on others, but dont accept how others talk down on you

ok, please give us a deep evaluation why its "sad" to make internett friends, not a simple "its unnatural". why is it unnatural? why cant an internett friend/gf be a good friend/gf? and if anyone tried to befriend you, how would you react?

No actually it's not....I don't care if you want to make online friends or not....but your inability to be open minded in general will not help you later in life......It wasn't a put down at all......just a fact.....

GS users are required by law to be incapable of love.Bauers-Twin

Ever since I joined OT I began to reject this idea called love.

Don't feel sorry for me....I've been married for 8 years...have two great sons....a successfull career and a crapload of friends on and offline..... I just feel bad that you're so closed minded....goodluck with that in life..... ;)

ok, please give us a deep evaluation why its "sad" to make internett friends, not a simple "its unnatural". why is it unnatural? why cant an internett friend/gf be a good friend/gf? and if anyone tried to befriend you, how would you react?

ok i think its sad because for a few reasons. its for people who don't hve enough confidence to express themselves face to face so they hide behind the anonyminty and make friends by reading words other people type. i think it would be better for people to develop social skills. its obvious im fighting a losing battle telling the people what they are doing is sad but i heard this argument on the radio a few months ago and the people overwheleming thought people making friends on the internet is sad and there is probaley something wrong with them

I've got 2 friends who are currently engaged in a long distance relationship over the intertubes with someone in another nation.

My cousin met his wife on a forum and now has 3 kids.

you're assuming everyone in here has no social skills so your argument is flawed from the begining......that being said...the radio?.....really?.....well...if people whom would call into a radio show say we're said...it can't be argued....nothing on the radio is made up or just plain wrong....ever....and for the love of god...I did not put you down......reading comprehension FTL....

They're probably close minded too. Those of us who spend time on forums have experienced both and get the best of both. >_>
